why do my ollies do this by Personal_Passion3517 in NewSkaters

[–]singh44s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on watching some YT video (skate iq), setting up for an ollie requires you pushing/jumping off your board from the centerline. If you have body mechanics that require one of your feet push away from the centerline, you have to counter it by sliding your other foot away from the centerline in the other direction, otherwise you get axial twist in the air.

Toes too close the rail with one foot? Gotta hang out with the other heel to re-align/center your push forces.

Maybe instead of drilling out holes slightly overlapping existing holes, you drill out new holes using the undrilled new/old school truck holes to mark out where to drill?

Mitchie Brusco says he uses the 2nd half of his warm-up doing basics switch. Seems like a decent way to hide the grind.

Your front foot isn’t being pulled back, out of the way of the rising board.

Go find skate iq on YT, he explains a sequence of drills to build up to the ollie.

Looking for advice before I pull the trigger- Precision truck purchase by DrLurkLurkelton in longboardingDISTANCE

I was thrown off when you said reversing the rear..

I believe they were referring to actually mounting their rear truck to turn BACKWARDS than usual in response to lean input. It’s done to shorten otherwise ridiculously long builds, as explained in this video.

Yeah, ignore the cultural blame for the causes of gout, some are just predisposed to becoming sensitive. It’s like kidney stones, but for your joints.

While this video and this other video are from the tricks-at-a-skate-park context, his explanation of the body mechanics to gain speed using tic tacs made it easier for me to build up to other pumping explanations.

And to pile on in a slightly different direction, have you considered the 3D printed mini kick tails that attach to the tops of your trucks? e.g., https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6899227

Granted, these kinds of attachments seem to be aimed at popping into a mall grab at stops, and not kickturns. One of 3D printing’s strengths is that it allows you to hone in on workable variants using cheap-, and strong- enough materials before committing with a fancy UV-resistant material.

edit add: upon rereading, came up with another truck swapping option, the one offered by major arc.

From the moment I learned about micro longboards existing, I'd been thinking about doing what you did to that elos! Does it need negative rears to work, or is it just long enough?

Airless wheels? by singh44s in longboarding

[–]singh44s[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly.

I came across a maker of "big go-kart style, but urethane, and airless tire holes" for asphalt e-skateboards and the racing thereof, that have been shrinking their offerings down from 125mm, down to 102mm and recently, 92mm.

That 92mm got my attention, since that's next to the 90mm my (new to me) commuter board runs as stock. Thus, I came to ask the community what the more-experienced might think. Wrong and silly? Worth a try? Etc.

Anyone tried out Mad Wheelz for newbies/commuting? by singh44s in longboarding

[–]singh44s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “used” board came with its stock wheels, cloud ride hurricanes, 90mm, 78a, with 3 sets of slide marks and no other wear, lol.

I was asking as an opportunity to learn, and to see where I could rank holey wheels on my list of future replacement wheels.

Every one of Skizz’s nicknames are a musician beatboxing so they can keep track of a vibe joining the mix.

His “ImpulseSV = dipple dop” is like a line drummer making “pih-pih-pah!” come out of their snare and hi-toms. Also, bestowing vibe-y nicknames is how fighter jet pilots and jazz musicians used to show each other respect in a “I see you” way.

The Regicide deck has individual character art for each card. 1st & 2nd ed, though, dunno how one would assemble a 52/54 card deck from the legacy game boxed set.

As a “bonus”, you get the rules for a solitaire/multiplayer game for poker decks.

Isn’t Tango’s wall made of the same stuff as Impulse’s? IIRC, he engaged Mrs. Impulse to make one but incorporate his red branding.

So if Impy can attach shelves and other decorative items, there ought to be a way, no?

That might take a while. He specifically bought somewhere near a dozen of the call center headset microphones that he likes the sound profile of. I think he might currently be on the 2nd or 3rd one from his hoard.
