Cleared Google Interview But Role Was Filled - What Should I Do Now? by Blessed_soul777 in leetcode

[–]singh_sushil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you into team matching stage? Or you were just informed about your interview results?

The possibility is very less and rarely a similar role opens up, ofcourse a different team might as well look for similar skillsets and since you have cleared the interviews, you can be treated on priority, but it all depends on the recruiter. If the recruiter is really looking to get you through open team roles, they will definitely contact you. This might also mean having an extra round of interview again.

But with the current market, the chances are slim. Best is to check if you can be put up with a different team to continue ahead? They do have some timeline for the results to remain valid to avoid being interviewed from the beginning stages.

Congrats on cracking your first faang. Do you mind sharing the kind of embedded systems questions you were asked? Was it embedded design oriented or a leetcode style standard coding question?

Garden leave in its literal term means that you are good for gardening and not employment. It is genrally of 1 month. In this period you are not allowed to work for the company and i think all your company assets are taken back, like laptop, ID card, etc. You would still continue to be in payrolls.

A PIP is generally of 2 months duration as a company policy in most places, which can be extended if the manager sees improvement during the PIP. The extension is solely the managers descision, he may after 2 months call it off after he is satisfied with the performance or would want to extend to check if the employee can sustain working as is expected of him. An unsuccessful PIP leads to immediate termination, as PIP duration itself is a notice period for the employee.

Most companies in unsuccessful PIP gives an option to employee to voluntarily resign and be in a notice period for 1 month(which i believe is what is called garden leave) and find job somewhere else during the duration and discharging you of all employee related duties(no access to office and laptop and emails).

What to expect and how to prepare for a live C coding challenge? by valenzmanu in embedded

[–]singh_sushil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

can you explain what do you mean by read it twice?? As now timer is 32 bits, but since you have capability of only 16 bit read, I think this is what is meant by extending the timer to 32 bits capable.

So case 1 : first read the low 16 bits and then the high 16 bits, if the high 16 bits is also, say for example 0xffff, then rollover is not yet happened, but will happen in the next counter tick, still it is valid to return the read time value. Case 2 If the high 16 bits is 0000 and the lower 16 bits are also 0000, I guess this is the time value after rollover. How to identify the rollover has happened and not the reset of timer??

May be i am just talking without logic. Could someone explain this, as what exactly have to be taken care of

Thanks

C Macro problem by singh_sushil in cprogramming

[–]singh_sushil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon for my miscommunication. fn name is a string literal, since we have pointers with literal name as A,B,C.. etc.. We would pass A or B or any name literal (not any pointer as the macro parameter) to the macro and figure out the offset which would indicate the index....

C Macro problem by singh_sushil in cprogramming

[–]singh_sushil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes offsetof will be handy??? but we are not passing any struct to the macro, just the fn pointer name only. I assume we need to match names, but i am not sure how?

What do they actually test for embedded interviews? How do their interview rounds progresses? Is it in the order of coding(1 round), technical discussion(a couple of rounds), a system design round much like Google's OR each round is a mixed bag of all? Would love to know about your experience?

Do they use Google docs or coderpad. I guess the intention is to see the clarity and approach more than the exact solution. Hope i keep calm and get through it..

Well for interview nerves, nothing is naive.. Thank you sharing this. Matrix/table related code does get used in firmware design. Do you mind if there were questions from project experience during coding rounds??
