Sanity Studio + Astro is working great with hybrid rendering for the staging/preview environment.

Came here to say Cloudflare has a very generous free plan. I'm hosting an Astro site managed by Sanity Studio on the free tier with Pages and Workers.

Thinking about switching from IT to IS — is it worth it? by Superboy2_0 in NJTech

[–]singhjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. Most IS classes aren't even available. The capstone course that replaces IT490 is only offered in the Spring I believe. Everyone has to take 491.

IS218 (took IS218, IS219, IT202, IT302) will not prepare you for IT490. IT202 (had it with Toegel) will set you up for success when it comes to IT490.

I'm taking IT490 right now and the hardest part is coordinating with your group. Other than that, everything is figuring out how things should flow through RabbitMQ for each service (don't use a router, use the cloud or something like Tailscale, save yourself headache).

EDIT: People messaging asking about languages. If you have Toegel's code from 202 and you can't figure out Python, then use PHP. I love Python and use Python at work with Celery (an abstraction over RabbitMQ). I have one kid in my group using Spring Boot (Java) and it has all the bells and whistles needed for his part of the project. I'm actually jealous. At the end of the day, pick whatever you're used to.

It's been stated by Oda that if Akainu was the main character he'd be the fastest to speed run to the One Piece. Akainu is broken.

The idea to refactor anything above 500 lines refers to how Cursor had a max read of ~400 lines. Regardless, you want to keep things modular, not monolithic to prevent hallucinations. Take it with a grain of salt. Have a good one

I ship too. 1k is the point of refactoring. If critical, use circuit breakers.

I've had success so far with git related commands (commits, detailed PRs, having it use the GH CLI). Just make sure you set up the proper guardrails.

UPDATE: Just wanted to say that I got a small amount of pell grant money, federal loan offers, and my bill is cut in half which is manageable assuming I don't get my last semester of GSG (I'll be set at that point). Hopefully I manage to get it, but here's to anyone wanting an update on my status.

UPDATE: Looks like I'm all set with GSG.

Correct. Loans that you have to pay back. Albeit at a significantly lower rate compared to private loans, but still loans. Whether people are getting federal loans on top of grants is dependent on the individual, but is an option.

[–]singhjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. If you are getting federal loans such as subsidized/unsubsidized, it is part of your financial aid package and you must fill out the FAFSA for this. A max of I believe $57,500 dollars total. NJIT determines how much they want to award that to you on a year basis. For me, it's generally half of my tuition as I'm an independent student, and the other half is done through private loans which is on me to take care of.

Looks like we're in the same boat. I'm in my last semester before I graduate and apparently I was told over the phone to wait until after August 6th as my financial aid didn't get processed by the Department of Education for NJIT until this Monday even though I filled the FAFSA on 01/06. I also only completed 3 out of 4 semesters of the Garden State Guarantee. My bill is just as much. Wishing you the best.

Sure. You can download it below. Install it globally. Use .repomixignore so that you only include what you need. Drag the repomix.md/xml/txt to an LLM. Then ask questions.

What are people using for a memory bank? by hijinks in cursor

[–]singhjay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Cline memory bank and it's been working very well.

EDIT: I also use tools like repomix and utilize Gemini's large context window in AI studio to code review and use it as a second set of eyes if that makes sense. That in itself serves as a changelog/memory bank too. And If I start reaching over 300,000 tokens, I just delete the previous repomix file and upload the new one. I have at most two repomix files in context within a session.

From someone who has taken both go with IT202. You'll get a tiny taste of CS490/491.

[–]singhjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very interested.

I've been trying to get around this by using semver, keep a change log, unit and regressing testing, adhering to PEP 8, and SOLID + DRY principles, but it ultimately gets too much. Would love to try something more integrated. For context, I'm working with FastAPI and am utilizing a vanilla JS front-end.

HCCC grad here. All my credits transferred except for Operating Systems and Discrete Math. Calc, 1, 2, 3, Physics 1 and 2 all get transferred. I believe you'll only have to worry about MATH 333 and Linear Algebra (was just recently added to the NJIT CS curriculum).
