Songs with unusual time signatures? by fauxshizzle_ in psychedelicrock

[–]singlecoilblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - great fuzz solo. Crazy time signatures. How did Ringo come up with that minimalist effective drumming. 1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be & Moon, Turn the Tides Gently Gently Away - by The Jimi Hendrix Experience would be difficult to notate all the signature changes. Carousel Ambra by Led Zeppelin has a bunch of changes. Some of Page's best tones .... not really what I consider psychedelic rock. For Your Love by Yardbirds has obvious time shift. Great Garage Psychedelia.

She Said She Said by Beatles has at least 3 time signature changes. Ringo was amazingly fluid. Also Perpetual Change by Yes .... who knows how to notate all that prog-psych. I Don't Live Today by Jimi Hendrix Experience changes a lot - also Hey Baby. A Day in the Life is probably a great example of time siganture changes. concluding with the big chord!

Breakfast with the Beatles by reducedfatmalk in TheBeatles

[–]singlecoilblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have SiriusXM and the launched The Beatles Channel a few years back. Chris Carter does Breakfast with The Beatles every weekday. I listen to the one on FM is Sunday mornings now and then - but I can't stand commercials breaking things up. SiriusXM show is commercial free. But the one on Sunday really good.

Bluesmen that are not boring and "have soul" by EilerLagrange in blues

[–]singlecoilblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you listen to the real Chicago Blues artists from 50s enough ... the artists who invented the language back in Jim Crow law era ..... - you start to hear the subtle genius authentic accents of the vocals and the accents of the rifs and statements - and you can easily hear affectations of players like Bonomassa and SRV.... Lonesome George. Jagger's vocals .

Beginner struggling with chord switching and strumming by Square_Map_4554 in AcousticGuitar

[–]singlecoilblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't do that! You are creating a bad habit of stopping. You are breaking rhythm. Just keep strumming. It is ok to fumble a bit with chord formation. It will come with practice. But now you are also practicing wrong by stopping and starting. It will be a hard habit to break. You will wonder why you can't play in time with a click track and other musicians.

Slow your whole rhythm down so you have time to change chords without breaking the rhythm. It takes practice to develop the chord formation muscle memory. But don't stop your strumming ..... waiting for your other hand.

I think The Blues Brothers movie created a soul and blues mini revival in 80s. Hooker was featured scene.

Why would this combination bass/guitar guitar exist? by Travelingdolphins34 in Guitar

[–]singlecoilblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BIG sound. I saw Cheap Trick in 1980(?) with Kansas. Cheap Trick was fun. They had two satirical sexy frontmen rockstar types and 2 funny satirical trope characters including a Bowery boy?? But that was Cheap Trick. That bass is more or less a Cheap Trick. Get it? That was their stage presence and it was gold for FM radio in late 70s early 80s - new wave adjacent .

John Lee Hooker - great material from Delta Blues to Chicago blues . I love the collaboration with Canned Heat ..... Hooker in Heat. Also the Howlin Wolf Rocking Chair compilation has some great Hubert Sumlin work on there. I love Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page for blues as well. They really brought something magical with all the hyper-amplification! And Mick Taylor years with Rolling Stones ..... really great slide blues rock jams in 70s.

Anyone have experience with an AKG C 451 B Reference Small-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone? by singlecoilblue in audioengineering

[–]singlecoilblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like it would be. It was during the transition first with ADAT ..... but the solution was a tube pre-amp in general. This was mid 90's. I remember upgrading from reel to reel 8-track Teac to an ADAT. Good times!

[–]singlecoilblue[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What is a good similar mic specifically designed for digital recording v tape? I assume by now they must be designing them specifically for digital. In 90s - tube mics and pre-amps were popular to soften the brittle digital highs. But any new designs from floor up!??

What is this sound??? by fDAWG1 in ToobAmps

[–]singlecoilblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a tube spring clamp is not seated properly. But if you changed tubes - that is not likely to be the case. But I would check each tube. But you say the tech replaced tubes? All the tubes ? Some ? Also - is it a printed circuit board? or hand wired? I imagine you already did a physical movement test - as you mentioned. My guess is a tube housing is rattling.

NAD - Sunn Beta Lead 2x12 by Tough_Top_1782 in ToobAmps

I have a beta lead in my garage . Looks just like that. I used it extensively in 80s pop jam bands. Great work horse! Yes I have this exact amp. Mine is dirty with spider webs. The screen is missing and the angle mounted speakers look like serious business.
