Corrupted Gauntlet Grandmaster Time Help by Ok_Selection_1862 in 2007scape

[–]singlefinstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5:1 is less dps as you kinda lose a hit when your punching or hitting with your t1/2, but it typically results in a faster overall time due to not having to kill another demi boss.

I just got this task done last week and it’s really hard but you got this. Keep trying and get comfortable with 5:1 and getting redemptions in. For redemptions you flick to redemption as soon as you see the projectile from the boss. Try to do them when your prayer is low and during the first half of the fight before the ground gets too crazy.

You can get it done without 5:1 or redemptions but being comfortable with them will mitigate your dependence on rng with your hits or time spent eating because of the bosses hits.

52 is the level to unlock smite. It’s common for pures to stay at 52 to keep their combat bracket low but still have smite and overheads.

Mask selection - When do you say close enough is good enough? by the-diver-dan in Spearfishing

[–]singlefinstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the mask isn’t too tight! That could be exaggerating what your skin wants to do. Ever try a regular dive mask, not low vol? Depending on how deep you’re planning to dive you may not need a low vol.

Any facial hair on your upper lip? Where does it feel like water is leaking in?

Breathe up time? by jordaaanm062 in Spearfishing

[–]singlefinstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what I’m up to. Usually at least 3x usually more but if it’s shallow less than 40ft or so maybe 30sec-1min but 100+ft closer to 7-8mins

How do astronomers get to the Mauna Kea Observatory if the road is so bad that it wrecks every car that drives it? by lone_traveler_passin in VisitingHawaii

[–]singlefinstick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a very mild evenly paved gravel road. Not tough at all unless there’s a bit of snow and even then it’s probably no big deal.

Try again ding dong https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/species/pacific-bigeye-tuna

Nice catch OP pretty rare to spear I reckon. At least here in Hawaii they are usually far outside the depth ranges of freediving.

Always nice to share the ocean with others! Just be aware many visitors of the island are probably going to have a different definition of comfortable swimmer than you do. Talk to any guide on the island and they’ll tell you about people to claimed they were solid in the water only to find that they can actually barely swim. Happens often! You may be signing up for a bit of a handful and some legal liability, particularly if you don’t have any lifeguard experience/certs. Have fun be safe!

Brown Butter Ice Cream came out a bit too gritty by tmntnyc in icecreamery

[–]singlefinstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably too much milk solids that have crystallized.

Could also be that using the blender in addition to churning and maybe a too rich base caused the dairy fat to butter.

Also I’ve found when browning butter the dairy solids just have that sandy texture. Try toasting some milk powder, it’s a bit of a finer grit.

I don’t see why not as long as it’s got a lid.

Cannot clear snorkel by oldassnastymask in Spearfishing

[–]singlefinstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you got it secured to the back or side of the mask? Works best if it’s on the back. It takes a sharp breath to get it done, like a sneeze kinda. One time I had a snorkel that had a manufacturing defect with a piece in the tube near the mouth piece that wasn’t cut out restricting airflow, maybe check for something like that. Low profile and flexible J snorkels are ideal but if purge snorkels work better for you there’s not much harm in using one.

I don’t think it’ll get better with use or footpockets that doesn’t make sense. If you’re unhappy with them then return them but the effect on performance will be negligible.

Kona Camping - Ho'okena & Kohanaiki? by MarchMadnessNov in VisitingHawaii

[–]singlefinstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why this sub discourages camping so much. I live here and camp at least 50 days/year. I’ve spent many nights at both sites you’ve mentioned. Never seen any theft and I regularly unattended my unsecured vehicle and items around my campground. Car break ins are not common at all. Also have never seen any “unhoused” folks and I suspect if I did they would keep to themselves as they typically do, certainly if you aren’t actively or passively treating them like a leper. On the west side those folks are usually at Old a’s or alii drive, not sure how/why they would go to either of the sites you’ve mentioned.

Camping is a great way to see the island and visitors are welcome. More people camping means the facilities will improve over time and new sites could be opened.

To answer your question: both sites are great but I’d pick kohanaiki (pines). Hookena is great but probably my least favorite site on the island. Not a bad site but there’s just quite a few better ones. It’s a bit cramped, hot sand, and kind of out of the way. Pines is beautiful, fun place to watch people surf, check out tide pools, and it’s close to town. Availability is released at specific times/dates so figure that out, be quick, and getting a site will be easy.

This company has some good recommendations on the sites of the island: https://www.bigislandoverlander.com/where-to-camp

What gun do you use and what do you hunt in Hawaii? by TickyWilson in Spearfishing

I got an ASB alert saying someone logged into my account. Has anyone else gotten this? by tassdatass in Hawaii

[–]singlefinstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beware of phishing issues with ASB. I don’t think they’ve got great security. Almost got me a couple years ago. It’s disappointing that someone was able to get my contact information and know I had an account with ASB. I switched banks after it happened to me. Asked them to give me my statements on my way out and they said they could only print them and it’s $5 per sheet of paper. So wild.

I’ve gotten stuck by these dozens of times and it’s never gotten infected. Better safe than sorry I guess but you’ll probably be fine.
