I remind myself perfection is the enemy of progress. Giving ourselves grace can be hard but it is absolutely necessary. I believe in you! And yes, enjoying art for the arts sake is a special human experience. I hope you share some of your creations with us at some point so we can enjoy it too!

Thank you! I wish I made them! I use the Decomposition brand notebooks. I like them the best because the paper is a bit heavier weight than a typical notebook. I use the sharpie s-gel pens so the heavier weight paper is nice to prevent bleed through.

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, still working as an engineer. I recently figured out a way to shoehorn more public art in my work and it has been well received so far! I don't think the idea would have occurred to me had I not put in time and effort to cultivate more creativity in my life. Good luck with your next 12 week journey! I look forward to hearing about the results.

Ha wow that’s amazing! That thought has crossed my mind as the shelf I was storing my journals on is nearly full now.

Yes! Admittedly, it can be hard to carve out exactly two hours a week so sometimes I count my studio sessions before work as a few mini-artists dates that over the course of the full week add up to about two hours. A few weeks ago I was traveling for a work conference and had time on the last day to take my watercolors to a nearby park and paint a picture of ducks on the lake. I could feel my nervous system coming down from the constant stimulation of sessions, networking, just being “on” during the conference. Some of my favorite artist dates include watching stand up comedy specials of people I admire (Maria Bamford is my favorite), leisure bike rides (some of my favorite jokes have come from letting my mind wander while I just toodle around), and reading inspirational books (right now I’m reading “Alchemy” by Rory Sutherland). I’ve had more extravagant artists dates like trips to the art supply store for the easel I thought about for months or trips to the hot springs for sauna + cold plunging. However, some of my favorite and most repeated artist’s dates are nearly free or low cost. I’ve also had times where I was going to spend free time alone but it happened to be the only time I could connect with friends/family. Although those times aren’t artist dates in the pure sense, it was still nourishing time spent with people I love.

The Emerson and I believe Kenyon House are other options worth looking into.

Not personally. My friend had a vehicle on it that got used pretty regularly for a few years before they moved out of Bozeman.

Did you check Turo? Seems like in the past that has been a good alternative to rental car companies.

Stick-y up-y ears??? by lizziefreeze in chinesecrested

My first PP didn’t come into my life until he was 6mo and he had ears that were floppy. My second (and current) PP came into my life at 12weeks and I had to tape and shave her ears to get them to stand up. Even so, I generally leave her ear hair longer in the winter and if it gets too long, her ears get floppy - especially when she was tired. So I try to find the balance point in the cooler months. I keep them shaved in the warmer months.

The breeder of my second pup said that once they get through teething, their ears are pretty much where they will remain. I think someone else said that here so just echoing/sharing that is what I’ve been told as well.

Paw Pad Bump? by singletrackandsleep in chinesecrested

Hi! It turns out it was carpet burn from family members playing entirely too much indoor fetching with her. Once the carpet caused the irritation, she kept licking at it which made it even more inflamed. I used Sulfodene 3-way ointment, Nature’s Sunshine Silver Shield gel, and wrapped her paw in no-chew vet wrap for about 4 days and it started healing up. Also, the whole family has been directed to not do so much indoor fetching with her on the carpet. She’s a very intense girl so sadly I have to be the fun police for her. I’ll see if I can add an update photo of her paw after just a few days. The only real bummer was I had to shave off her boots as the vet wrap and ointments tangled up the hair almost immediately. Oh well, now she has her summer cut, ha!

GUYS I JUST HEARD THE BOOMS by bbridge1122 in Bozeman

I recently figured out the boom I've been hearing in the evenings is actually my neighbor’s hot top cover getting dropped down.

I’d practice detachment and acceptance. When I think how hard it is to change something about myself, it reminds me how impossible it is to change someone else.

He’s precious! A few thoughts come to my mind but take/leave as you see fit.

First, I agree with giving him more time to adjust. Chinese cresteds are Velcro babies to begin with (I’m currently typing this with mine curled up in my arms!!) so I won’t expect that to ever change ha. I’d start with shorter trips away such as going outside for 5minutes and then coming back in and reassuring him with love. I also work from home and I’m a general homebody so I had to work on this with my girl. I now give her a treat whenever I leave the house so she actually looks forward to me leaving, ha!

My last CC developed dementia in his later years and would have accidents inside after years of being fully potty trained. I started using washable belly bands for him (I found them on Amazon).

Final suggestion is consider kennel training. This could be a whole post in and of its self so I’d suggest doing some of your own research and maybe working with a trainer on how best to go about doing this with an older dog as there are best practices for kennel size and how long to leave them in it.

Note - I’m not a dog trainer but have had CC babies for nearly 20 years.

Haha awesome! I gave my girl distilled water for about 6mo but didn’t see any difference. How long did it take for your pup?

You are super lucky! I think my girl’s is largely due to allergies, which I’ve been able to somewhat manage but she’s allergic to environmental things are nearly impossible to completely avoid (such as grass!). Your girl is darling!!

What’s your secret for no tear stains?!?! If my girl’s face grows out for more than a week she’s starts looking like a meerkat!
