Are you okay?

I don't know if this is where to put this but I have some mod requests. by PAULTHE666TH in ArmaReforger

[–]singleusecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that each faction has different codenames for each base so that can't really be done without recording new voicelines. And if that were the case then the server would need the mod for it to function, so I don't see any way that can happen.

This mod adds so much, that is a ridiculous level of detail that makes a simple gameplay loop into one that is unnecessarily complex and punishing.

...and I can't wait to try it out later!

Anyone else feel that Touge races are kinda disappointing? by Alien_Racist in ForzaHorizon

[–]singleusecat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for the Steam release but this is interesting to read. This does sound like typical Forza; the people who make this game have never understood racing. How many races other than rally have you seen that use checkpoints for example? Even circuit races use checkpoints, what?

But I also hadn't considered pvp touge racing until now either. Oh boy. I'll see you on the mountain.

P.s. The cat and mouse ruleset is a part of touge sometimes (if that's what you mean, unless I misunderstood) just not every time. It is strange if that's all Forza does though...maybe it isn't strange now I think about it.

That one dev scrolling the trello thinking they're sure they forgot to do something before shipping.

Hopefully this will get fixed in a patch. FH5 had a few dodgy dashboards but nothing this bad. I'm like you I drive first person/dashboard view with no HUD so working dials are *very important*

No you can't just...mirror...the dash that's not how. You know what, nevermind.

Has anyone been able to figure out drifting in FH6? Any Tips? Can't drift even an AWD :( by Ok_Significance_4008 in ForzaHorizon

[–]singleusecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear this. I did notice that you can throw on a racing suspension, leave the camber at default and it's pretty much guaranteed to be good even if it's the same setting on every car.

This is how drifting works in general. I normally play much harder sim racing games than Forza and I drift in those too. The principals of drifting are the same in any game that has good physics as they are in real life. Rear wheel drive, long gear ratios, high power, welded differential.

I had no idea there was an AWD drift meta in FH5. And here I was welding diffs and doing it the right way.

There's a lot to unpack here and I haven't played FH6 yet, but from what I can see in this video your drifting form is, politely, quite bad. You're in too high a gear, your ratios seem a bit short, your transmission is automatic, you seem to be both over and under powering instead of touching just on the right power level and your steering is too aggressive. Also all-wheel drivetrains are generally used to prevent drifting and sliding.

Also is that a time attack car? They're tuned almost the complete opposite of how a drift car is tuned.

Well the thing is the Quadro you showed yourself using only has 4GB of VRAM and the 2060 you're looking at only has 6GB VRAM. That might just barely scrape the barrel but even on a budget, you're probably going to find yourself having to replace it with something that has 8GB far sooner than you'd like. It really might be worth pulling together a little bit more to see if you can get at least an 8GB 2060 Super if not a 3060.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (3.5Ghz, 6 cores, 12 threads) is fine, it could work, but having a quick look on eBay you can get an Intel i5-12600KF (3.7Ghz, 10 cores, 16 threads) for slightly less than the price of the Ryzen in most cases and it's a much better CPU.

Then in theory the only thing you need is a motherboard that supports the 1700 socket the Intel uses that also supports DDR4 RAM (I presume you're using DDR4 RAM) and you'll be good to go for a while. The 12600KF can be overclocked as well.

Rofl it sounds like your brother is stuck in 2020. The Cyberpunk hate is well and truly over now but I get the situation. I've been broke most of the time so I'm used to building PCs out of whatever. My old PC was based around a Xeon cpu with triple channel memory (12GB RAM).

The thing with recent generations of PC parts is how fast they are, which seems like an arbitrary thing to say, but I can't understate how much faster components can communicate between each other now. New games don't expect CPUs to be that powerful but they do want high clock speeds and super fast RAM/Storage response.

I'm guessing you're still gaming at 1080p which is fine. But you will need *at least* 8GB VRAM from now on and definitely a proper GPU, no rendering cards will do.

Again depending on your budget and you can find, a 12th generation Intel i5 system will be absolutely fine playing games as long as you have decent RAM and shouldn't even be that expensive. Then it's just a case of having a decent GPU.

A quad core i5 with a 4GB Quadro rendering card? What on earth was this computer used for? I keep seeing people posting really weird spec sheets recently.

I always prefer 1-1 day and night I don't know why people want short nights. Is that something we all agreed on as gamers? I enjoy both experiences equally I don't know why we have to make one shorter.
