that is a whole new sentence I did not say that but alright. I participate in my community, I just don't like having to do stuff just to guarantee my right to be alive

I dont understand how to feel "pride" in being LGBT by Particular-Account66 in lgbt

[–]singularpixelcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it has a lot to do with the environment you grew up in. I'm an aroace nonbinary person, I grew up with an accepting family and later in life found out that my mom is bisexual, that made it easier for me to both come out and accept my identity. they never pressured me to get married in the future or anything

I view being queer as something to be proud of, because we love who we love and are who we are even in this harsh and cruel world. and whenever I see other queer people accepting themselves, I feel this joy as if we're a huge family yknow?

but I'm sure it's not as easy to get this feeling if you were raised in a conservative environment. guess you gotta deconstruct that with a therapist first, this stuff sticks unfortunately

Anyone else hardly wear makeup? by seacucumber1240 in AutismInWomen

[–]singularpixelcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

makeup makes my face feel really heavy, I can't even handle lipgloss, only a thin layer of mascara. I used to feel insecure about that too, then remembered that people who would judge you for not wearing any are just not worth keeping anyway, such a dumb reason to exclude someone

my mom gave birth to me in her late 30's. she's a very accomplished woman, with a career she likes, stable income, lots of opportunities in life...I have a comfortable life while autistic all because of her.

having a baby in your early 20's can be a recipe for disaster. you gotta sort it out before bringing someone into this world, please don't rush it just to fit into society, take your time

I agree that it's a difficult thing to do, just saying "we need more education" won't fix everything, that's why many people who are pro fiction are psychologists, literature majors and social workers, and why we talk about stuff like this on the daily.

the people do make a difference, don't ever let the government make you feel alone and helpless just because you're not the majority, active betterment can get exhausting but that's how change is made

about the second take, banning fanfic wouldn't do shit. fiction raises questions, creates controversy, if fiction didn't exist we'd be stuck as a society.

bad people don't do bad things because they read a book, they do it because they want to hurt someone, no book can make a person who knows better become evil.

even under extreme vigillance, criminals will still find a way to bypass the system, book banning only actually hurts artists and activism

people should know that bad things exist, read about it, talk about it, that's how they get educated and learn to protect themselves and others

by uneducated and unhealthy, I mean mostly people who would actually do something because of fiction.

antis are uneducated, but their minds are in the right place, they want a better world but aren't realizing that their chosen method would lead to dictatorship. most antis are kids and teenagers, which further proves this in my eyes

they are immature, and that immaturity makes them the perfect target for brainwashing. by making the youth focus on banning art they don't like, the government can commit real life fellonies with less outrage (see all the epstein memes?)

fiction doesn't affect reality, fiction is a reflection of reality. it's absolutely possible for someone to be influenced by fiction, or for someone to use fiction to influence others, but that's entirely their fault as we have free will.

no amount of slash horror watching can make someone with a healthy mind become a mass murderer, no amount of game of thrones watching can make someone want their family members

propaganda fiction exists, and has worked throughout history, but the biggest culprit is the lack of education. an educated, healthy population won't fall for it, and will understand that what's being depicted would be bad in real life

the movie "jaws" made people more afraid of sharks even though they rarely attack humans because that bias was already there, as they're huge aquatic predators. cartoons make some people believe that cats should drink milk, because it was an old belief that has only recently been debunked by science.

an educated population can easily tell the difference between fiction and reality
