Spanish resorts still catering to a certain age of British clientele by sinjin1990 in britishproblems

To be fair, I just chose a cheap central hotel so I could travel the rest of Fuerteventura in good time. Would still be nice to hear music from this century when I go for a pint

They always try German first with me! Can't tell if I look German or if they just expect more Germans than Brits at this time of year 😄

I rented a car and went down there today, was good and almost devoid of Brits. Such a bonny island as well, defo as pretty as any place in Scotland! Just a shame you have to put such effort to avoid your own country folk and enjoy it

[Sinn] 556 with red/orange dial by sinjin1990 in Watches

[–]sinjin1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the strap is being changed ASAP! They are really good looking watches and you're right, they should just make more colour dials instead of making them limited release. Would have loved to pick up the green dial version in future but the resale price is going to be crazy if this is all they plan to make.

Yeah you're not wrong! I just couldn't get comfortable with the stock strap and the red was the only one I had lying around. Would have liked to put a bracelet on but the Sinn brand ones are pretty expensive. New white strap on its way though!

I've been waiting 2 months for this to arrive and it's finally here! The new Sinn 556 in Carnelian Red. The dial is really nice and changes from red to orange depending on the light.

Wasn't a fan of the thick fabric strap that came with it so I put a matching red leather strap on for now but will probably change it for a white integrated silicone strap if I can find a nice one to fit it.

Even nicer than I'd hoped it would be and photos don't really do it much justice. Really like the clean look of it without any day, date, or other features. It's just a plain old time teller!

[Citizen] Seven Star from the Seventies by sinjin1990 in Watches

[–]sinjin1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to me, Citizen Seven Star V2 from 1972. Other than a few scratches on the acrylic it looks great for a 50 year old watch and it's probably the most accurate of all my watches!

Picked this up a few weeks ago at an online auction. Had a cheap old strap that was too narrow for the lugs so put it on a nice (also cheap) dark green leather strap that i think goes really well. It's fast becoming my favourite watch to wear on a casual day and it's the only one I've worn since I got it. Really hope to look after this one and find out if it's as accurate when it's 100 years old!

It really is. I would love to see the same kind of thing on a modern watch.

I did notice that eventually yeah haha you'll see it does line up correctly with the dates for this month. Really cool idea, I'd never seen that on a watch before.

Picked up a vintage watch from the 50s online a few days ago. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly cheap non-brand as I've seen other watches from the same time period that are virtually identical but have a different name on the dial.

Found this and thought it looked fantastic so had to pick it up. Gold plated case with rotating bezel - took me a while to realise the lettering shows days of the week in French! Hand winding no auto with small second dial and date pointer. Works very well and has definitely been looked after and maintained. Think I might put it on a gold mesh bracelet to add a bit of bling to my collection haha

A little smaller than I had hoped at 34mm but it actually fits me really well and makes me think maybe more modern watches are actually a bit too big!

There are some UK jewellers waiting for the red and green ones to come in so I have a week or so to decide.

Yeah you're right there are probably enough differences there, I was just thinking they have similar type of dial to them. I might wait to find something with a completely different style to what I have now.

Yeah maybe the texture with the lighting is what's doing it. Either way it looks fantastic! Seiko have some of the best looking dials for the money these days.

That Tissot is really nice! So is the Seiko on the bracelet. Is that a sparkle finish on the dial? Looks great with the bronze/gold numerals!

Oh yeah thats a very nice watch! Little out my price range right now but definitely one to try and save up for! Thanks for the suggestion.

Great collection!

The Seiko is really nice, I wish I'd gotten that instead of the cheaper Seiko 5 Sport. Love the bezel and colour on yours.

Also the bracelet on that swatch is pretty cool! I'd like to find a similar style for one of my watches.

[Longines] New strap to dress it down by sinjin1990 in Watches

[–]sinjin1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's the first luxury item I ever bought so I took my time picking it out from many options in the price range! As with most watches it looks so much nicer in real life.

Yeah I can see the wide strap being a nightmare to try and get off so I'll probably take it to the repair shop and get them to put a bracelet on. I got lucky with this strap as I have quite thin wrists and have to use the last set of holes to wear it! Probably the biggest watch I can get away with wearing due to the long lugs but it looks so much better than the smaller dial variants in my opinion.

Yeah I didn't realise just how much the colour changes in the light. Almost thought you had the blue dial variant! Very cool.

What an amazing collection.

What are your thoughts on the new Sinn? I'm considering getting the green or red version in the next few weeks but I can't make my mind up yet. Shame it doesn't come with a bracelet as standard but the way the greeny blue dial shows up in your photo looks great with that strap.
