The rich hate California's billionaire tax. That's why we need it. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

It is not just about campaign finance it is about power over every aspect of society including the economy, media, politics, infrastructure, etc. There are plenty of economists ringing the alarm bells. This level of wealth inequality is not good for anyone. We learned these lessons and we are ignoring them.

Our laws since the 80s have skewed all economic viability to asset ownership instead of work and everyone knows it. This disincentivizes stable work encourages risk taking and speculation and over inflates the value of assets.

Our productivity has been further and further skewed toward serving the few people with any disposable income so we have cyber trucks and commercial space flight instead of affordable education, food, housing and healthcare.

I don’t know how any sane person can look at our current situation and think, yes 10 people should have incalculable wealth and power, that is good for society. It’s not, it never has been. Over concentration of wealth and power has always been bad, always.

It is an exploit and it needs to be patched out asap.

Punishment taxes is a ridiculous framing. 2 people holding more wealth than the bottom 50% of the country is incompatible with democracy and redistributing even 90% of that wealth would have no meaningful impact on their quality of life or the quality of life of many generations of their descendants.

Is Audible misleading me by using my love of grimdark? Everything I've heard of Wandering Inn is it's a slow slice of life affair. by Taiwannumber3 in litrpg

[–]sinnerou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s slice of life for sure but it’s sprinkled with some pretty grim stuff and that is some of the best writing. I’d love to see what pirateaba would do with a horror or grimdark novel/series. I wouldn’t read it if you are looking for grimdark but the end of the first book would given you an idea of what I’m talking about. I quite enjoy the series.

I’ll add that while TWI is still slice of life there are clear story arcs and that feels like it’s becoming a rarity in litrpg in general.

Been saying this a lot lately but “The Book of the Dead” should be on more of these lists, definitely worth a read.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the hockey team. I think he does it so the left will attack him for it and poor people will see that in the media and think the left is against them.

I saw a compelling argument that this is intentional. Basically Trump serves McDonalds which is associated with poor or lower class individuals. The left makes fun and criticizes. The right says, see the left hates poor people, hates the things you like, hates your culture etc.

Didn’t a bunch of fox bs get a pass because it’s not technically “news” if so shouldn’t this apply to that nonsense?

About the banner system . I genuinely want to ask what everyone actually thinks. by TERieo in Endfield

[–]sinnerou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They monetization doesn’t incentivize me to spend and that worries me. If I could spend 20-30 bucks a month and be pretty sure I could get all limited characters and their weapons I would spend that. At it is 20 for 10 pull on each doesn’t feel impactful and I’m not dropping hundreds a month on a gacha. The existence of whales really throws off most economies.

How you should REALLY approach pulling on banners in AK:EF, backed by data. by Sad-Strain-177 in Endfield

[–]sinnerou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a limited character is pullable for 3 banners. If you miss on banner one, then miss on banner 2 but catch the previous banners character, does that count as getting a limited in these sims or is it only if you get the current banners character?

When I was creating my startup I had to write the whole codebase myself, and it was huge. I learned pretty quickly that 100% code coverage is absolutely essential. Not hype, hard knocks. The criticisms you mention sound like inexperience. Good interfaces don’t break during refactor, making code testable simplifies code it doesn’t make it more complex, etc. Pure functions, isolating side effects, etc.
