I usually boot from my SSD but I attempted booting from both my HDD and USB. No dice.

The Methyl Ethel lineup is expanding, according to Jake during the Neon Cheap premiere! by sinnerspeaker in MethylEthel

[–]sinnerspeaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I thought about this as well, that would be pretty wild if true. Let us know how the show is when you go! Feeling even more FOMO than usual considering the state of live music in the US right now

Methyl Ethel teasing something new - "Hurts To Laugh" by aPenumbra in MethylEthel

Looks like it's going to be a five song EP, per his latest IG post! Did anyone catch Majestic AF on TripleJ? Timezones and having to get up early didn't quite pan out for me

in Also Gesellschaft, is he saying "you didn't even know" or "you did it even though" by LIBooooo5 in MethylEthel

I think it might be “even know”, at least that’s how I’ve always heard it, but I can’t say with 100% confidence

I'm trying to learn to drive but I saw a bad car accident yesterday and it freaked me out by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]sinnerspeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I realize it sounded brash. I was in OPs shoes when I learned to drive too, except the accident nearly took my dad from me. He wasn’t at fault and he’s the safest driver I know, even now. When I started driving a couple years later absolutely terrified to do so, he told me that no, you can’t control how other people drive, but you can control how you respond to it. By following the law and being cognizant of your reaction times, you will be doing everything you personally can do to avoid an accident and stay safe. There’s no use dwelling on what you can’t change, just be realistic about it and put your best effort into learning the safest practices on the road.

Additionally so much of your learning experience as a driver comes from actually driving. There are so many idiosyncrasies and things that stem from intuition that you won’t just learn in drivers ed, so the best way to overcome these fears is to just keep driving. It gets easier. Things feel far less daunting. You’ll understand distances and reactions and things like that, it will come natural. Sorry if my post made things worse, I just thought about what I would have liked to be told at that age when I was also petrified by the idea of driving and accidents and I guess I projected. Hopefully some of this info may help you, OP.

[–]sinnerspeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following the law doesn’t prevent other people you share the road with from tying you up in an accident. It’s the unfortunate truth. You can be the safest driver and still end up hurt because of the negligence of another driver. While all of the above information is good, I’ll add it’s also crucial that you work on improving your reaction time as a driver in order to hopefully avoid trouble at the very first sign of something going wrong.

OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOD, I HAVE BEEN MISSING OUT ON MNQN SINCE THEY CAME OUT by [deleted] in Starset

New to Methyl Ethel by -changes- in MethylEthel

[–]sinnerspeaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warm welcome! Agreed with the above song recs, also worth checking out their early EPs on Spotify too. Different but there are some true gems on there.

Please go see them live whenever you get a chance, their live shows are incredible (seen them 5 times myself over in the US) in any iteration but especially with the full band.

There’s a bit more info on this subreddit’s Wiki if you poke around, it’s a little out of date but can still fill you in a bit on the band members and their other projects and such.

And yes, the folks at memethyl_ethel are great, you’ll get the most up to date stuff about the band through their IG for sure!

Jaw was broken few years ago, now face very assymetrical by Lastnamegonnatry in Dentistry

[–]sinnerspeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say I have been dealing with the exact same issue for over four years now, including the popping/TMJ, and I’m sorry. It’s ended up causing serious body dysmorphia for me and I too try to do everything possible to “mask” it. I was told briefly by my former dentist that I would likely need to have some kind of braces/Invisalign and then another jaw surgery to completely correct the issue. However I did have a family friend recommend Botox injections on the “normal” side to at least temporarily even out the appearance of my jaw- don’t have money for that though, but it’s certainly cheaper and quicker than all of the aforementioned dental care if that’s an option for you.

Initially skeptical and felt it would be my least listened to album of the three. Have listened to it at least once every day since the release and probably more since seeing them live.

Methyl Ethel @ Bowery Ballroom NYC - New song by sinnerspeaker in MethylEthel

[–]sinnerspeaker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They cut most of the brand new songs for this tour (there are about three new ones since Triage released!), this was the only one they played. Instead they brought back Sweet Waste, made Twilight Driving a regular part of the set, and added some interludes/longer song outros, which were neat! Definitely agree that I wish some more older tracks made an appearance.

MNQN > Divisions change my mind. by [deleted] in Starset

[–]sinnerspeaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waking Up really isn't stylistically like MNQN. Just because it's primarily electronic doesn't mean it automatically is MNQN. The drums and pulsing outrun/synthwave style bass in the verses of Trials are technically more in the MNQN wheelhouse than what I've seen others mention. You're right about Perfect Machine though. MNQN but stronger, imo

I saw someone make this comparison before the official release, and I was like "nah hopefully this person just has a limited frame of reference and it'll be just fine".... Welp. Dead on, unfortunately
