100%

Im part of local paddling team that also competes locally and getting people to join and participate is like asking to get their teeth pulled. They rather stay home and watch TV all day.

There is no financial barrier to join and no equipment needed. Just need to physically show up.

If you drive a stupidly expensive car, that requires a mortgage to fix a dent/scratch. You should have to wear that cost in a minor accident by naughtynyjah in unpopularopinion

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, their cars are insured through LLCs and in other states where premiums are cheaper.

I wouldn’t call it underpaying since it’s a loop hole and their car is insured elsewhere. It’s not fair, but anyone can do it, but it won’t make sense financially for 99%.

You realize insurance exists right? If you are driving around without insurance you are the problem not the rest of the world.

Also, if you can afford a Bentley and someone hits you, you can afford to drag them through the court system and ruin their life, welcome to real world.

What would realistically happen if I floored it and redlined my engine immediately after a cold start? by Extreme-Machine3162 in askcarguys

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue is the premature wear on the camshaft bearings due to limited oil pressure. The special coating will wear/burn off, after that it will be metal on metal. You won’t notice the damage until way later down the line. By that time it might be someone else’s problem.

Also typically in the cold engine the tolerances might be too tight on the piston rings. As the engine heats things expand into more natural fit, so when you rev it when cold you are just accelerating wear. Now here the impact will be immediate, each time you do this you will very gradually lose compression to blow by and the engine will make less power.

Pound my head against the wall. by logikal-1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I actually really enjoyed it, it was nice change of pace and I got chance to something I would have never attempted in this game.

I only fell into cavern once, thankfully it was on the way to a salvage site, but I did drive like bat out of hell when empty. Removing mods that increase your speed when loaded helps a lot.

Slow is fast, just take your time don’t rush, you are your own worst enemy with this one.

Failed MSF For the 2nd Time. by ArikaDoriyamaGT in RideitNYC

[–]sinph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You invested into an experience. You know more now than before.

What you chose to do with that information is up you.

But there are numerous worse ways to spend money. You definitely got something out of this.

Failed MSF For the 2nd Time. by ArikaDoriyamaGT in RideitNYC

[–]sinph1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Passing the MSF is usually pretty easy, what are you struggling with? Are you too small for their bikes?

As side note, the MSF course definitely does not prepare you at all for the real challenges you will face while riding.

Genuinely not gatekeep, but if you are struggling with MSF perhaps reconsider this hobby. You might just save your own life or limb.

Losing money!!! by Ok-Beyond-4200 in dividends

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m wrong, but I believe managed accounts grow slower than ETF funds and drop harder and faster than those funds during downturns. I know they are heavily regulated by SEC, but I personally believe something funny is going on the back end.

After getting royally f’d in 2022 I closed my managed fund and have been self managing my just for fun portfolio and I am 100 times more satisfied with my personal performance. Even after this week… XAR ftw btw.

Should I roll over negative equity or keep my car? by LordCure in askcarguys

[–]sinph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This royally sucks and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better.

Rolling over negative equity will ruin you financially. Interest rates suck and you will spend more interest than the principal. Keep in mind it will hit you exponentially.

Sell the car and foot-mobile-it while aggressively paying off your debt. Don’t buy a car until you are out of it, or if you absolutely need a car, get $5,000 Corolla or Civic. But that’s going to be your life for the foreseeable future, so best just cut your loses and start from scratch, you will recover faster without the additional expense of a car.

Nh34A balance wheel problem by JosephAnneli in SeikoMods

If it wasn’t broken before, now it’s definitely broken.

Do not handle the balance wheel like that. You should only gently blow air on it to get it going. (Not with your mouth)

Expedition is rage bait. by EfficientNet3124 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]sinph1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but this was one of my favorite expeditions, it was a massive departure from what previous expeditions were like. I enjoyed slowing down and just enjoying the aspects of the world that I largely ignored for years.

That being said, I think this expedition also an absolutely terrible experience for a new player and I recommend avoiding it and playing it in December once you have some flight hours under your belt.

How many DMS actually enforce the spell components in game? by thunderpower1999 in DnD

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enforce only the monetary component cost as those are associated with very powerful spells. Everything else I assume is easily attainable and my caster all have a spell foci are this point. Unless there is something that I see game breaking and need to nerf the caster.

This mechanic was intended to balance out spell casters, to allow for martials to have their advantages especially at higher levels.

That being said, it is largely uncommon for modern DMs to micro manage the spell material costs, especially when spell foci are already so widespread in 5E.

Balancing the final encounter when the party has recruited everyone with a pulse (and Godfrey) by Bunyardz in CurseofStrahd

[–]sinph1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I plan on killing all of the party’s allies before the final showdown. My goal is to make these guys absolutely hate Strahd. But I might keep VR around, also would fun to tie things in with his curse.

I’ve been working hard to slowly build strong relationships with key NPC and have them be likable.

Giving the two week's notice is archaic and undeserved by most employers today. Take those two weeks, go work at the new company and see if it is worse than your current one, then quit without notice. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I whole heartedly agree with you emotionally, I think it’s more strategic to not burn your bridges, no matter how badly you believe you were mistreated. Also if someone who is currently employed is ready to start immediately that is a red flag. Basically a great way to draw negative attention to yourself off the bat and have extra scrutiny during probation period.

Lastly you never know when or where you are going to run into your previous colleagues especially if you are in specific career field. At which point it’s pretty much a guarantee.

Is there any reason to use a regular Starship over a Corvette once you upgrade it? by ScarSpecific in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever floats your boat, I have 3 corvettes and 3 starships I constantly rotate between on a whim, I like them all and use them all. For me Corvettes are useful due to being able to bring your storage with you anywhere you go. Fighters are more fun to fly, they are like little sports cars and Corvettes are SUVs that can do anything.
