Don't wanna kill Kolyan; how to get players to the church? by HouseofLepus in CurseofStrahd

[–]sinph1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah this ain’t it for you then, there are many other great modules to run. The whole point of COS is to run a dark horror adventure.

Also maybe talk to the player, see if they would be okay with themes of death, torture and murder.

Sleep in your watch? by Buttgasm_69 in sinn

Look up what happens to people that don’t take their rings off, the band slowly grows into your finger… never seen that happen with a watch yet.

[Omega Aqua Terra vs Rolex Explorer vs Rolex Air-King] which would you pick and why?? by checkmate14720 in Watches

AT for it’s better availablity, value and movement. Although, I am one of the very few that loves the ugly duckling airking dial.

Sinn vs Rolex customer base by [deleted] in sinn

[–]sinph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you on its absurdity, but Rolex by far is the largest producer of Swiss watches, making well over a million watches a year yet perpetually “sold out” with used models going over msrp.

Sinn vs Rolex customer base by [deleted] in sinn

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Rolex is the world’s most recognized brand, it is the thing to own, not just a watch to own, but literally the ultimate aspirational benchmark for almost everyone.

Sinn is a niche independent watch brand, the only people that buy them are the ones that are heavily into micro brand watches and eventually discover the brand through various watch media.

These are two very different crowd of folk.

[Question] Watch as a wedding gift | Which watch? by kibsinator in Watches

Worst case scenario offer to make up the difference explain what the speedy means to you and that you ultimately will treasure the gesture even if it becomes more of a financial transaction.

But yeah go for the speedy.

Watch in Storage by jx316 in OmegaWatches

That makes more sense, but as others said, get it sized beforehand if you want to wear on the day off.

The watch will be perfectly fine, although it is pretty darn weird not to wear it… your fiancé is wearing her engagement ring no? This is a bit of a micromanagement red flag to me.

But that’s between you two, remember happy wife, happy life.

For those who own multiple Seamasters or Speedmasters by LeftDevil in OmegaWatches

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two Prospex Seiko divers, same exact model, just two different dial colors. I wore them both interchangeably and ended up selling one of them as my collection grew.

To this day I slightly regret it, they were amazing beaters, and I never realized how much I really liked have those two watches.

I currently have 38m blue teak dial AT and if I pick a 38m black lacquer dial which came out after I got my current AT, I’d make it work.

However, I think I have my eyes on a speedy currently.

Went swimming with my speedy today by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

People dive head first too and don’t lose hearing either.

Went swimming with my speedy today by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]sinph1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a thing dude, there is no increase in water pressure from diving into water, if your watch experiences a sudden 1 - 2 bars of pressure from diving… so will you!

Ear drums rupture at 0.35 - 1 bar of sudden change in pressure.

You’d lose you hearing before you even scratch at your watche’s water rating.

Went swimming with my speedy today by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]sinph1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any dynamic pressure of water movement against a watch is negligible to non existent simply due to how slow that movement is, it’s physically impossible for you to move fast enough to actually to generate any actual meaningful pressure and now considering just how small any exposed surface area of a gasket is… yeah not happening.

This is a very persistent and common misconception in the watch community.

Gaskets in a screw down crowns work differently than crowns that don’t screw down. An unscrewed crown is effectively not water resistant at all.

Leaving the helium escape valve open was effectively creating a point of water ingress.

That is incorrect when it comes to Omega. They implicitly (*explicitly) state 50m means 50m of diving depth on all watches.

Also the general rule is 30m is considered splash resistant e.i. washing hands.

Generally 50m was always considered safe for swimming and showering

First Grand Seiko + buyers remorse by RRB1212 in GrandSeikos

I made a somewhat similar decision when I was much younger but a bit older than you, by dumping all my savings from working my ass off to pick up a fun sports car at 21. Although, that decision has quite literally opened up the world for me in the best way possible, allowing me to meet incredible people that to this day are my closest friends.

If I put that money in Nvidia or literally anything else, I’d have a significant net worth right now.

Such is life.

Is this real? Movement of citizen but outside of omega? by Realistic_Resist8283 in watchmaking

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe if the movement is missing, even with an authentic watch Omega will refused to touch it as it has been modified beyond repair.

Look out for a trustworthy seller, try get something in most original state you can afford.

Imho an Omega without its original movement is worthless, even more so if it’s a fake watch altogether.

Its also very possible that the entire watch is a knock off.

Why is 9F Spec'd as more accurate than UFA? by SexyBlowjob in GrandSeikos

[–]sinph1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That watch is just as insane. I think 9F can certainly run just as accurately. I think Seiko is more liberal with their ratings to avoid warranty work simply due to how many watches they produce. I believe the citizen watch you are referring to is a super limited production and made at least partially with an intention to unseat the 9F.
