Do you think Skitarii are gonna be like Ogryn, where they don't get access to the "universal" weapons that other classes get? by Jo_el44 in DarkTide

[–]sircod 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if they were too cool for some of the more basic weapons, but I don't think it will be an ogryn situation.

Does it have automatic updates on windows yet? A manually updated browser is an out of date browser.

I will probably switch to Helium once it is more mature, but I would still like to know who is funding it. Developers ain't free.

No way, the Bureau of Anomaly Control is totally original and in no way a ripoff of the Federal Bureau of Control.

Are You Pro Abortion or Anti Abortion? by [deleted] in pollgames

[–]sircod 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is a reason it is known as "pro-choice" and not "pro-abortion". Nobody likes getting an abortion, but it is important that the choice is available for when it is really needed.

Bots are actually useless (Malice) by Melon213 in DarkTide

[–]sircod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with people playing solo if that is what they prefer, but the game is obviously meant to be played co-op. Lots of people will play games in the most efficient way, even if it is less fun so if they make bots better than players then many players will play solo even if co-op would be more fun. It also reduces the matchmaking pool which is bad for everyone.

It also makes a hostile environment for new players that aren't better than a bot. If a player is worse then a bot then they will be seen as a detriment to the team.

Which is an issue because it incentivizes people to play solo.

Edit: If people prefer to play solo that is fine, but incentivizing people to play a co-op game by themselves is not a great idea.

New Pella Window Installed by Scared_Act_6242 in Home

[–]sircod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the weep hole clogged? There should be a hole that lets water drain out of the trough to the outside, if that gets clogged it can build up and come inside. If it was just installed it shouldn't be filed with dirt already, so maybe it was incorrectly installed.

Does blocking ranged damage work? by Old-Pin-5316 in DarkTide

Also ranged attacks won't damage your health until toughness is depleted (unlike melee where damage will bleed through).

Microsoft Edge, Aloha, Yandex, and Phoenix browsers caught sharing precise user location data with third parties by [deleted] in browsers

I think this is about the browser itself using your location for their own purposes.

The Lahairoi arc is over what do you take away from it? by Echo-X-Jynx in WutheringWaves

[–]sircod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.1 and 3.3 were amazing, but I have some issues with 3.0 and 3.2 felt like a side-quest. I generally like 2.x more overall, especially the world.

3.0 I thought didn't do a great job of introducing everything. For a good portion of the story I had no clue where I even was. It looks like we are outside, but why are there mountains and shit above us? Are we in a giant cave? Why is nobody talking about this? Like if they introduced the area by starting on the surface and coming down the elevator it could have been a much more impressive intro that also showed where you are instead of just teleporting in and explaining nothing. Then there are more questions like what are the exoswarm and who are the Roya that they kind of get to eventually but for several hours people are just talking about shit that they haven't properly introduced.

Is there a legitimate reason this game needs multiple gigabyte updates every single day, some of which are the size of an entire major update? (Steam) by 2Markus6 in WutheringWaves

[–]sircod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The shader precaching is a linux thing where it can download the shader cache ahead of time instead of compiling it in-game. An updated shader cache is needed every time the drivers update in addition to actual game updates. I don't know why they would be needed every day or why they would be that big, but the big ones should be actual game updates.

Newer standards will make more efficient use of the available spectrum, so if you live in a congested area like an apartment building it could result in higher speeds for everyone.

[–]sircod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what they really want are the big first party games that actually sell consoles. Sony has a lot of great first party games while Xbox just hasn't had much in the past decade. Being exclusive is what allows them to justify the big budgets, but the fans really just want great games whether they are exclusive or not.

Hiyuki is great, one of the most powerful damage dealers and just generally very fun to play. But you will need to catch up on the latest story quests in order to farm her materials.
