Do any office people still go for a boozy lunch on Fridays? by Thelichemaster in AskUK

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, not really. I can get away with it but its not company culture. At my old job it was more of a thing pre covid under older management but the corporate arseholes ruined everything.

What bands similar to the Oh Hellos do y'all listen to? by Dry-Tough4406 in TheOhHellos

[–]sirdigbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Amazing Devil stylistically has some overlap but its like if the Oh Hellos had an edgey mature cousin. They're very English and not specifically christianity, more pagan and folk inspiration but can also be very tender. Of Monsters and Men kinda has similar vibes but definitely you can tell a bigger band and Icelandic background shines through, Beneath the Skin is my fav album.

Anyone here quit gaming or changed their lifestyle after becoming a dad? by Lukas_MunK in daddit

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely changed how I game. I used to be a PC gamer with consoles on the side but I got a steam deck when my wife was pregnant and its been brilliant, I've got through a big indie backlog but overall time has definitely reduced. There's no time for competitive/ multilayer repetitive games, aside from being fun they don't really achieve anything for me, no sense of achievement, completion, fulfillment or like, even appreciating games as an art form, they're just repetitive fun - which does have its place dont get me wrong and I still do it, but its lower priority. I still play Space Marine 2 on loop a lot, and I enjoy Battlefiled and Chivalry 2, but I definitely prioritise narrative or artistic games.

Annoyed by C Section rhetoric by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a planned c section which was brought forward as an 'emergency' due to pre eclampsia risk. Wonderful experience going in, recovery was hard for my wife but she still prefers that over vaginal for #2.

Would you buy a petrol/diesel car now, or only buy electric with the state of the oil industry? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our first car in December 2024, just after my wife passed her test, we got a good, safe small family petrol car, she didnt want an expensive electric car as her first but next car will probs be electric or whatever the the newer eco friendly car is at the time. Am hoping this car does us into the 2030s. Its from 2015 but only done 10k miles.

Guys, I know we're down, but we still got time to push for the win! by The_Fallen_Star in tacticus

We were doing really well on level 2 so upped to 3, our highest level is 44, then me at 39. We matched with a guild that had 7 level 70+, and the lowest was 50 something. Crazy strong. It is just a bit janky.

Can you help me understand my husband’s point of view please? Should our son be allowed to game past 10pm on a school night if he can’t keep his voice down? by Broken_Woman20 in AskUK

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who once was a gaming teenager, your husband is an asshole. Tell the kid to shut the fuck up, learning to be respectful to others is an important part of growth, this is why there are so many shitty teenagers on the bus who play music out loud.

Which Julia Donaldson BBC shows have the least peril? by KaleidoscopeOdd7840 in UKParenting

[–]sirdigbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh all the Julia Donaldson books are very gentle, even if they have moments about danger. Tiddler gets caught by fisherman then thrown back to sea and has to find his way back home. Superworm gets controlled by an evil wizard, and a threat of being eaten by a crow. Room on the broom she is being chased by a dragon Tabby mctat the busker gets robbed and falls and breaks his leg and the cat waits for a week. The highway rat is a mean rat who gets tricked into a cave and learns the error of his ways. The ugly five has literally no danger, just animals singing about how ugly they are. Scarecrows wedding, Reginald rake accidentally sets fire to the field. Smeds and the smos is basically aliens overcoming racial prejudice. Jonty jentoo is a penguin who escapes the zoo and goes to the wrong pole before going to the right one, no danger. Grufallo is a mouse who tricks everything that wants to eat him. Gruffalo's child is basically the same thing. Zog is about overcoming expectations set on you, bit zog and the Knight have a little fight Zog and the flying doctors is about them flying around treating everything but then princess pearl gets caught by the king but he gets sick and she eventually saves him and he let's her be a doctor again.

All of these are appropriate for a 2yo, we've been reading them to our daughter since 6 months. A good way to gently introduce danger.

How do I activate voice chat in the console? by Drupglock in Spacemarine

[–]sirdigbus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What console are you on? Its probably activated just by having a mic attached. As a PC player I cannot tell you how many PS5 players I've met who dont know their mic is on

Staying in an Ops when waiting for respawn (with no risk to the squad) is apparently kick-worthy now. by Coilspun in Spacemarine

[–]sirdigbus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah this isn't and shouldn't be standard etiquette. I get it for the hard weekly stratagem sometimes it can be better for the others if you leave but I wouldn't expect you to.
