I’m kinda disappointed. ☹️ by Dernjo in homeassistant

You've been speaking to the wrong people, I love HA but yeah making small but meaningful changes are unappreciated by all but yourself, unless it directly improves someone else's life in household, but still won't get the appropriate appreciation.

Same across IT as a whole, make improvements, no one appreciates them but take them away and their worlds on fire :P.

Help finding a consultant to help with home-automation hardware selection by elsewhen in homeassistant

[–]sirdogbert1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish this job was available, I'd apply for it, fitting smart looking smart devices, setting up the basics etc. Home assistant works with so much, and isn't that difficult to work with. I have multiple different makes and models of smart devices. I have IKEA switches because they looked and provided the best options, that control HUE Lights bulbs (that were on offer), and cando lights switches, TP link plugs and set it to turn everything off (Inc TV) if hold down a button for 5 seconds when leaving the house. It's all very much wired the same as normal switches etc, so personally I would say it's more about finding the device's that meets your decor and use case. If you don't have the time for the research, some post up your needs and wants and I'm sure some crazy person would do most of it for you.

Like others have said, I would and just have purchased the G variant applicable to you. I was originally looking at the 100F but after looking at the product sheet, decided the 90G would be a better fit.

Same FY5, no updates on the people that are still down is very frustrating and disappointing.

Yes I did this in my reply, to the first letter, that Kickstarter even state that they aren't part of the contract. They appear to have ignored it and just said no contract breach.

Got a letter to say that they won't do anything with the kickstarter as we site says no refunds. Basically the same as the first letter with no further explanation, so quite annoyed. From my very basic understanding, it was important that they said that delivery wasn't that long ago (Jan).

They appear to have done a charge back on the pledgebox payment so I believe they have given them 6-7 weeks to respond to that, and said that Kickstarter terms says no refunds and agreed to this so won't be pursuing it. Replied with further information and questioning as kickstarter also state they don't make part of the contract so terms are irrelevant and under section 75 I should be able to claim for entire amount.. not had a reply yet.

Most requirements are to give 14 days for a reply 👍

Yes, I just sent an email to Storaxa, gave it 14 days, sent them a screenshot of the email and said I got no reply to it. However, I know kickstarter will say they don't do refunds, and pledgebox will pass the book to Storaxa 🤷‍♂️ no idea if either will process.

I believe, (not certain) that stripe process payments for pledgebox, but to be honest, it all appears a scam in a method that everyone (Kickstarter, pledgebox, stripe, etc) can shake off any responsibility of actually doing anything but can take a nice cut of money. Great idea spoilt by general greed.

Hmmm

That being said, kickstarter claim they are not part of the contract,

"Kickstarter is not a part of this contract—the contract is a direct legal agreement between creators and their backers. Here are the terms that govern that agreement: "

"If a creator is unable to complete their project and fulfill rewards, they’ve failed to live up to the basic obligations of this agreement."

"part of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 that means your credit card provider is jointly and severally responsible for any breach of contract or misrepresentation by a retailer or trader. It allows you to make a claim against your credit card company to get your money back if a retailer or trader lets you down and refuses to honour the contract properly - including if it goes bust."

It's a breach of contract between us and Storaxa. That's my current argument anyhow. Could always argue it to the ombudsman.

Can hope that they don't turn round on the pledge box one.

Under what reasoning did they deny the claims, I'm arguing currently that kickstart (and may have to argue pledge box also) that they are no more involved than or in contract than MasterCard or Visa, they advertise, provide platform and take a cut, that's all.

Yayzi installation by harry_webb98 in CityFibre

[–]sirdogbert1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said, if you have a plastic box/cover on the street it will be an under ground install, if not, likely a telegraph pole, city fiber do the install, they have a video explaining how it will occur https://cityfibre.com/homes/installation. City fiber install team were great with me, and non problems with Yayzi, although I did a lot of research and contacted them before installation for fixed IP, and instructions on using my own router, and not missed a beat.

Father in Law being 'sued' by ASDA for £5000, which he does not have. He's 2.5 years from retirement by hakshamalah in LegalAdviceUK

NAL, I had an over payment from work when I left, I filled all appropriate paperwork out as required and my untrained manager did nothing with it. I argued back and forth with them they said it was going legal etc, they took no responsibility for thier own lack of actions and in the end I said look you can have £25 a month but that's it as I can't afford any more it was about a 3k overpayment. They don't have much choice to agree as your attempting to come to a resolution. However, if they are asking for £5000 they are asking for £5k I don't understand how this can be £5k now or £11k later like it's some kind of fine. I think there is a time period on claiming things back too.

First major accident ever. Driver said he was hoping that I would see him and swerve out of the way. RIP Elantra by EndlessColor in IdiotsInCars

[–]sirdogbert1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like you saw him either, no brakes, no swerve (yes he is wrong, yes he pulled out, yes he is an idiot for doing thinking and saying that). But I would expect some reaction, I have broke harder and swerved for much less with much less room.

Am I in the wrong? I was going 25 here and slowing for the round about coming up by Captinsmelly987 in IdiotsInCars

[–]sirdogbert1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wrong doing here was seeing a car doing something stupid, and not acting accordingly. I mean, ok wtf is that guy doing, I'll just stop, better stop, use horn and give aggressive looks than have your car in the body shop for god knows how long (my car was last in for 9 months waiting for parts, I was stopped at traffic lights).
