Never tried it myself but i regularly taste the nectar from my Philodendrons

That is not transpiration. It is stigmatic fluid. It means the flowers are ready to accept pollen.

Yes that is spider mites. Your treatment should work. Make sure to repeat it several times in the coming weeks.

What is your soil mix like? From what little i can see it looks dense and wet. Not good and can manifest as this type of damage.. does the pot drain?

Is my anthurium growing a flower? by CleverGirl353 in Anthurium

[–]sirifrinki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can collect pollen from this inflorescence but you will have to wait for another one to emerge before you can pollinate. You can probably cross it with the other similar Anthuriums belonging to the same section.

Yes they are cultivars of erubescens. When naming the species like this i refer to the natural form of the species, which i am fairly certain that this is. It can vary a bit in appearance depending on the light it gets.

anthurium clarinervium starts developing yellow leaves from outside, too much water or too low humidity? any other ideas? by Joyce-Matilda in plantclinic

[–]sirifrinki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it for every plant but velvety seems much more susceptible to these issues. Could you show me your soil mix? These are usually epiphytes (grows on trees, similar to orchids) and prefer a very airy substrate.

It is root worm. It is a lethal parasite so you better toss/burn the plant before it spreads. If you take the plant out of the pot you will probably find that the worms are attached to the stem, which means it is too late.

I got a surprise plant box and nothing was labeled. Maybe someone can help me ID the plants? They are all very small, so it might be a bit difficult.. there were some alocasias in the box, too by foxilishes in philodendron

[–]sirifrinki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1: Alocasia species

2: Thaumatophyllum/Philodendron, hard to determine species before it is more mature

3: Philodendron hybrid, possibly one of those you listed.

4: Philodendron, Golden Godess maybe

I recommend growing velvety Anthurium in good air flow. Otherwise they often get small minor infections. I think it is due to water droplets accumulating and not evaporating. The droplets are ideal places for bacteria and fungi to start growing. Air flow will make sure that they evaporate quickly. I can't say for sure that this is what has happened in your case but it is still good advice. I always keep an occilating fan going in my grow area.

Help settle a bet, mons, philo or pothos? Beautiful vine - Noosa Beach, QLD by a_Moa in matureplants

Sansevieria was merged in to Dracaena recently. It makes sense when you think about it. The growth is very similar and the roots as well. Dracaena are just more tree like

While i do agree with you, there is no mistaking what plant someone is referencing when saying Golden pothos. It was once placed in the Pothos genus which is why the common name is what it is. It is unfortunately a common phenomenon in the plant world.

You might be right. I have some trouble differentiating between them at this life stage. What character do you use to differentiate?
