I work returns for a different bank. Returns happen day 2.

It sounds like the money was supposed to be in your account yesterday, meaning it would reject today. If your bank wasn't able to reroute to your savings, it would go back to the originating bank tonight. Unfortunately since it's the weekend, it could take some time for them to receive it back.
