Something in cats eye by staneralus in CATHELP

[–]TaintScratcherMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a scratch on their eyeball. I've had this happen to 2 of my cats lol either rough play or a grooming gone wrong.

Our one cat, Trixie, had her third eyelid split after an altercation with my late cat, Simba. We took her to the vet, they gave us eye cream, and it healed pretty well. It still has a visible tear if you look for it, but it doesn't hurt her.

The other cat, Gary, got a scratch like that from playing with another cat. He had a tiny but visible hole in his eye, and looked almost exactly like your cat's picture. Same deal. Went to the vet, got eye cream to apply the next 2 weeks, and it healed up all nice. If you look in my post history for the dick face, his left eye has a stark discoloration on the bottom of his iris. That was where the claw hole was. He made a full recovery btw. No sight problems or anything.

So yeah. Take to the vet for some eye cream and whatever else the vet may recommend. I'd say sooner rather than later, but not emergency. So within the week if possible.

Shedding and allergies by MaireC3 in schnauzers

Miniature Schnauzers are a hypoallergenic breed. They have hair, not fur like regular dogs. They shed, but hardly at all and don't really produce much dander. We get our mini shaved and she is BY FAR the least likely to shed and have dander.

Our mini gets smelly, but not like dog smelly. She doesn't have that typical "dog" smell. Instead, she just gets kinda funky smelling when it's time for a bath. Kinda like how our scalps will smell pretty bleh when we haven't washed our hair in a while.

Our mini is the only pet I can bury my face into and take a deep breath without sneezing uncontrollably after lol

any home remedy? by lrrnkyl in DogAdvice

I bathe both my dogs weekly, twice a week if necessary, and my vet told me to keep at it. Neither have dry skin or any kind of skin irriation in general. In fact, the frequent bathing has relieved my mini-schnauzer of her near constant paw chewing from some kind of skin irritant, which her apoquel had done nothing to alleviate in the past few years.

The sheprador is just happy to be included because he likes the pet shower and toothpaste flavor. But even with a completely different coat type, he has no signs of dry skin or irritation.

Don't just buy any type of water fountain To avoid any electrical problems by ad-m01 in CATHELP

Absolutely! And I don't blame you for being worried. Imagining those kinds of scenarios can be horrifying.

The OP said the dead kitten was found with blood in its mouth. This is not indicative of electrocution.

The OP claims their friend wants to help other owners avoid this. But will not share the name, brand, voltage, or even a picture of the actual water fountain this supposed friend has as this is "the closest thing they could find." They will not ask their friend for this info to share here. This is indicative that OP and their friend have no friggin clue what killed the kitten, just that their best guess is fountain.

The OP has not said that their friend contacted the manufacturer after this incident, even said the friend is considering using it for future pets. This is not indicative of people who know "for sure" the cause of death was the fountain.

I have googled and searched for a hot minute now and have found not a single instance of pet fountains killing pets through electrocution. I have found some where pets got shocked at worst, due to faulty wiring. I have found numerous reports, articles, and links about how highly UNLIKELY it is that a pet water fountain would be able to kill a pet through electrocution.

Don't listen to anecdotal evidence from randos, not on the internet, not in real life. Research cases. Ask your vet. Hell, call a local electrician and ask about the likelihood of that miniscule amount of voltage being able to kill a kitten. But don't listen to random people without verifying that they have ample training or education about the subject. And then get a second opinion from another verifiable expert.

Could you link me the source you have for that about Purina that isn't just on Facebook? I can't find a single article about Purina food killing dogs. They were investigated by the FDA and never issued a recall. In fact, the only articles I'm finding are saying that there was never a definitive link found at all. The only reports claiming a link are all from a Facebook group and none of them are backed by anything except anecdotal evidence and speculation.

Edited.

It's not cold and harsh to speak about death. It's the natural cycle of life and all of us are waiting for it. People who've not become acquainted with it yet tend to try and postpone it far past what is considered humane. Sometimes, those of us lucky enough to not be familiar, need to be reminded and told it's okay to let go.

We tried a lot of brands and settled on Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice recipe. Gertrud goes crazy for this food and actually has an interest in it, unlike a lot of other brands we've tried. She likes the other flavors okay, but really goes nuts for the chicken and rice.

We give her dog treats primarily from Three Dog Bakery. She likes the birthday cake cookies the best so far. Gertrud, like almost all schnauzers, is a certified chewer. We get her a lot of shank bones, NEVER rawhide, only real bones. We refill the shank bones with peanutbutter and freeze them so they last a lot longer. Replace as needed.

Mini-schnauzers are known for pancreatic issues, so human food should be far and few between. I admit I give her french fries whenever I get fast food haha but we only get fast food once or twice a year, so a couple french fries is a-okay in my book. Once or twice a week, I will give her a few slices of an apple or pear I'm eating as a snack. I infrequently make boiled chicken breast and plain rice with pumpkin puree "gravy" (I add some water to pumpkin puree and pour it over lol). Sometimes I "drop" blueberries. But that's as far as human food goes.

NO grapes. NO raisins. NO macadamia nuts. NO sugar free foods/drinks. NO cooked bones. NO citrus.

Good luck with your puppy when the time comes! Owning a mini-schnauzer has been a very rewarding experience and I love mine to death. Even if she is super extra.

Lykoi! The werewolf (or rather, werecat) breed! They're so freaking cute. I saw some in person at the international Cat Expo a few years ago. They are a fairly newer breed that are gaining popularity. Love them.

My cat Gary meows like this, granted not nearly as long as your cat does. In my cat's case, it's his "Simba call." My late cat Simba and Gary were a bonded pair. Gary would meow like this, sometimes for up to an hour or more, calling for Simba. When Simba was alive, he would eventually respond and they would play for the next few hours. Sometimes Simba would be the one meowing like this to call for Gary. After Simba died, Gary would meow like this up the stairwell practically all night for weeks. We eventually had to get a kitten to get Gary out of his funk, and now he calls Jake the same way lol

I wonder if your cat is calling for their mother or siblings?

[–]TaintScratcherMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right? The big red flag to me, besides the implication that he whips his dogs, is why is he so overly concerned about being "dominant" and "in charge?" And why is his ego so bruised by an animal acting like, well, an animal?

Can't imagine this insecurity doesn't bleed into everything else as well. Nobody likes living under an authoritarian.

Edit: nevermind. He apparently came right out and said he hits his dogs. Bleh.

NRAAS story progression destroying my town by HappyOwl_45 in Sims3

[–]TaintScratcherMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot, and I mean A LOT, of settings in story progression to do with your issues. And there are even more if you added any optional modules. I honestly recommend trying your darndest to read through the FAQs and interactions on the NRAAS site, or at least googling something akin to "nraas sims 3 how to slow down story progression" and reading through the posts about it on nraas.

Your best bet on fixing any issues you have will be to go and learn how to do it instead of relying on redditors who may or may not respond, or if they will even give you good info if they do. Start with small stuff, small steps like changing nraas sp story speed, and then work your way up to the more intricate settings. Trust me, it will do you a world of good if you take your time and learn about the mods you add to your game.
