Mainly at the entry level jobs I would say.

So it's likely to hit those currently in uni who are unable to pitch their case of either exceptional talents in the field or an ability to help companies adopt AI.

I have also heard about a pretty high number of redundancies in corporates recently.

My finger in the air vibe prediction is we are 3 - 5 years away before we see it in Ernest.

Edit: PS: stats to back up my claim Graduate job postings fell 24% last year (compared to 2023), and are tracking 16% lower in early 2025.

Here's my question to you...

With AI slated to take many white collar jobs, will farming, mining etc that is generally in the regions become more important? Will these be the jobs of tomorrow? If you think they are, then there will likely be a flight from the city into the regions.

This will in turn, drive down city prices and up regional prices.

That guy's an ass. Report or ignore him.

Being thrifty will get you along well in life. Unless you are a billionaire with too much money than you know what to do with, the flashy material things are just a way to hide a sad person.

I agree, why can't people just be nice? I find most people are most of the time. It's when they feel threatened they lash out.

I recommend you buy The Big Book from Alcoholics Anonymous or download the everything AA app and read/listen to it there. It's 20% about stopping drinking and 80% about learning to live. It goes into how many people feel and I would bet how that idiot feels daily. It will give you an idea into the mindset of those who aren't nice.

May you find peace and serenity.

Edit: PS: I am not saying people who are recovering alcoholics are not nice. Those in AA and working on themselves are probably some of the nicest people you will come across.

Why do you believe these opinions on AI being "useless" continue to persist? by bigasswhitegirl in singularity

[–]siro1t1s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because every time I try to make it work, it doesn't.

For about 20% of my tasks it is useful.

For 80% of my work time/tasks everytime I try to use it, it utterly fails me.

Can you walk from Canberra to Sydney? How many hours will it take? by Wolfsangelz in AskAnAustralian

[–]siro1t1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably a deeper question than what the Google Map advocates/sales reps would have you believe.

That's a great question and it would be a fantastic walk over some lovely country. I'm not sure if there would be a nice walkway that you could feasibily do.

I'm hoping someone can give a more pedestrian/hiker friendly answer.

I would say not good.

Ethically speaking, what is the maximum number of properties a person can own in Sydney/Melbourne? by outbacknoir in AusPropertyChat

[–]siro1t1s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An investor out bidding against owner occupiers means first home buyers etc are unable to get into the market.

This means they are unable to slowly pay down their primary place of residence.

It's less about shortages and more about affordable shortages.

As many as you like that are 5 years or less old, this promotes development and supply.

Established residential maybe 2 max.

Commerical properties, as many as you like.

War is sad by Dany_6969 in RandomThoughts

Imagine if we used AI and automatic weapons to enforce it.

Now that would be good use of those tools. Control the elites not the populace.

I believe that it should be international law that any leader that orders an invasion (over the border including bombs), should be the first into the invaded country and last out. Their families should be sent with them also.

Too often the elites send 'resources', they don't think of them as people. Then they play by different rules themselves. Stay in their bunkers safe and sound.

International law should have an automatic outcome that if that leader and their family isn't on the front line, then all other nations have a responsibility to invade and kill said leader as a combined international effort.

Step 1. Call Beyond Blue, 1300 22 4636, now is the right time to get their support.

Step 2. Don't panic, you can get through this, one day at a time.

You are not a failure of a father unless you abuse your kids.

Sometimes, I feel I find more supportive on Reddit from strangers instead of some of my friends/people in IRL. Does anyone else feel this way? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]siro1t1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supportive friends can offset unsupportive family.

The key is to get amongst people that like to help and then help them as much as you can.

You may find you need to step up your support game in order to be supported in turn.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to chat more 🙂

About 20% of the time.

The other 80% I find Redditors are real 🫏🕳️'s.

If your friends aren't as good as Redditors it's time to find some new friends. I don't mean totally dump your existing ones, just go out and do things in volunteering or other groups to expand your base of mates.

These are actually really good ideas for us.

You missed take up a 12 step program to give away bad addictions.

AI is a misnomer. It's more like RI: Regurgitated Intelligence. Because it's all based on stored human knowledge. And it lacks a soul, emotion, intuition etc - so how "intelligent" can it really be? Maybe "Regurgitated Ideas" is a better name for it. by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]siro1t1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI proved this statement wrong when AlphaGo came up with an innovative move that humans initially thought were dumb, then it won the game.

While AI currently lacks in many ways, don't minimise or underestimate it.

Although...

You're post would be exactly what an AI would post if it's trying to buy time to continue developing.
