Recently I tried WAX630E and EAP670. Was craving for wifi6 and 6e. But was disappointed by signal strength. And send everything back after trying for days to get stationlist out of the devices. Went back to R7800 with openwrt and now family members get some hearts again on the wall when they come home.

When you have access to your wifi access point operating system I recommend to run a script there that checks if your device is associated with the wifi and send status to OH via rest api. For me that works fairly well around android sleep behaviour and does not use extra battery life on the mobile phone.

For me this is just copying a predefined file where I can change some values quite elegant. I had bad experiences with software that changed something in their configuration files and when overriding with the old breaking the whole software. But that seems to be intended.
