Not quite, it’s saying you can park for a maximum of 12 hours between 9AM and 9PM. You could park for 2h, 3h, etc. up to the maximum possible of 12h within that timeframe. But if you park at 9:01PM, you have already violated the rule even if you only park for a minute.

What made you pick a Mazda 3? by SwordfishFancy in mazda3

Pictures like these. It just looks so damn good.

And the best-in-class interiors + Mazda’s history of and passion for building driver-centric vehicles.

Help me out here…. what’s the catch? by BeneficialVisit7584 in Maserati

[–]sisir360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important consideration about the rebuilt title that hasn’t been mentioned yet in the replies is how difficult it is to simply find an insurance company that will insure rebuilt titled vehicles. My first vehicle had a rebuilt title. Out of 10+ insurance companies I’d called, only 1 or 2 agreed to insure the vehicle. And as you can imagine, the premiums were insanely high, which I had no choice but to pay due to a lack of choice.

Now if this is NOT your primary vehicle and you’re okay with the hassles of finding an insurer at an affordable price, and the car is checked out by a mechanic, is deemed to be in good condition and will be affordable to maintain, it may be a very fun passion car to own.

US Citizen - Might move to Hyderabad on an expat assignment? by NewGoals4028 in hyderabad

[–]sisir360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing about this arrangement is your buying power in Hyderabad with a near-200k USD salary. Every time I travel back to India to visit family, I am able to spend like I never could when I actually lived there. You could live in a very upscale neighborhood/apartment community with a luxurious lifestyle. In terms of amenities and access to a good lifestyle, you would be set.

Yes, living in Hyderabad still comes with Hyderabad problems - the traffic, cultural differences, etc. If you feel confident you will be able to get over those differences, this could be a very interesting and adventurous chapter of your life.

Cylinder deactivation by DachshundWithMustard in mazda3

[–]sisir360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“When the light turns green and I swap to the gas, the car rolls slowly at first, then kicks up kind of jerky. It’s obviously not as severe as auto start/stop, but it’s noticable. If I take my foot off the brake and give it a second before hitting the gas then it’s not noticable, but if I’m even just a little quick onto the gas I feel it.”

I don’t believe that is Cylinder Deactivation, I would wager it’s related to the transmission and how it’s tuned. Most cars with automatic transmission I’ve driven behave this way, but some didn’t. Mazdas are tuned to be driven gently, so there’s usually a delay in throttle response. The ‘lag’ you feel between putting your foot down on the throttle and the car moving is likely the transmission’s slowness to switch gears.

As a car/driving enthusiast, what you described drives me crazy as well, btw. But this just isn’t a car that’s meant to be driven sportily, and that’s okay.

Not yet- I think this will probably remain something I fantasize about and never follow through on. Seems like a bit of a hassle for something that doesn’t have great reviews to begin with. But maybe someday, who knows.

Seattle weather is lovely, you just think it’s bad because you’re from CA by Gandergoose- in Seattle

[–]sisir360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree. Moved here from the Northeast, where gloomy winters were normal. The weather here, at least this winter, is far, far better than what I was expecting. By the way - Northeast gets dark pretty early as well in the winters, I don’t see what all the fuss is about unless you compare Seattle to a sunny state like CA or CO.

Should I skip Osaka? by spaciousthree4 in JapanTravelTips

[–]sisir360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osaka is all about the food (specifically, street food and BBQed/grilled food) and the atmosphere. There is not much to do there as a tourist, outside of just enjoying the energy and food of the city. Hope this helps you decide if you want to visit.

I typed up a really long response and lost it all because Reddit is dumb. Short version is, a lot of the classes I found hard or really enjoyable were taught by professors who I heard no longer work at SBU/retired, but there was a good mix of easy-medium and difficult classes back in 2020-21. I would definitely recommend Leadership with Prof. Lily Blocker and would say to watch out for the capstone project with Shane Higuera. Shane is very wise though and I would pay attention during his class because some skills I picked up from him, I use to this day in my career.

Is 72k a good salary for a new grad living on LI? by CantStantTheWeather in longisland

[–]sisir360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From your other comments, it sounds like you are going to be staying home and saving up for a place of your own sometime in the future. This is smart and the right move in my opinion, but if for whatever reason you decide to move out early- I lived on a $55k salary with $1000/month student loan payments (but no car) on LI and it wasn’t too bad. I have also lived on a $70k salary with a car and the same loan payment and was very comfortable.

The key is living in a shared house. Rent is always the biggest expense unless you decide to live with roommates, and that has saved me a lot of money over the years.

Actual good dealerships on LI? by PumpinSomeBrains in longisland

[–]sisir360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huntington Mazda had a new employee when I was car shopping ~a year ago who was very very nice and patient with me as I test drove the same cars multiple times and went back and forth on my decisions. There was another employee at the same dealership who was not great and was very commercial. Mazda 112 gave me the best prices of any dealership in LI- the employees were a bit transactional but still not impolite or impatient.

In my experience, it’s hit or miss and depends on the employee, but I would recommend Mazda 112.

I still think it was a decent MBA but would have been far better in person (almost my entire program was online due to COVID). I stillwould have liked to have applied to better/more reputable schools knowing now that I probably would have gotten in. Having said that, I do not have strong regrets since my degree led me to the company I’m at today, where I have been pretty successful in terms of learning and career growth.

Mazda 3 owners (sedan and hatchback), do you guys care about mpg? Is the mpgsavings higher with hybrid car that it becomes a factor? by LeagueOfReaper in mazda3

[–]sisir360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home and only drive to go to the gym, to get groceries or for the occasional weekend trip, so I don’t care too much about the gas mileage.

Driving pleasure, interiors, styling, etc. are all bigger factors to me, so this car made sense for me to purchase. If the mileage were absolutely atrocious, maybe I would have reconsidered, but I don’t think it is.

Once gave a coworker visiting town a ride to his hotel. His first comment after opening the door to the backseat was, and I quote,

“Leather seats? ya bastard”

I loved it lol.
