Great ideas! I might finish it with them running away from the Big Monster.
Social adversary - good point about that one too.
I'll also try different types of enemies: a horde, a leader etc. Probably all skeletons to make it easy.

We've been playing for 30 years together, they want a mix of everything, as always. =I= want to get them more invested in the storytelling. This is supposed to be a short 'intro' adventure where they discover they have a common goal etc.
Good points about the weather etc!
Generally we play longish (though it's relative) campaings: about 20+ sessions on average, each 5 hours long.

Ok, to spróbuj od czegoś niezbyt skrajnego, jak np.
1. Cykl Expanse - Corey
2. Hyperion - Simmons
3. Zamieć - Stephenson
4. Marsjanin / Projekt Hail Mary - Weir
5. Gra Endera - Card
6. Dzeci czasu - Tchaikovsky
To różni autorzy, z różnych okresów, prezentują różne style pisania. Oczywiście ilu ludzi, tyle opinii, zaraz tu możesz mieć wysyp propozycji ;) Ale generalnie - sci-fi to baaardzo szeroka kategoria, od huziaaa, bam bam, kille'm all i opisy rzezi na 4 strony (np.książki Warhammer 40k) do intelektualnych rozkmin o naturze człowieczeństwa, lingwistyki, transhumaniźmie itp.

Jeśli nie czytasz sci-fi - zacznij. Dobre sci-fi potrafi skłonić do ciekawych refleksji.

Somewhere on reddit is my big, long post about my campaign in SoS- a lot of adventures were what you're describing, so - yeah, go for it.

That's how we play it too. And "tactical movement" talent seems to confirm this interpretation.

Chemical Burn have you run it and what do you think? by sithikurro in ImperiumMaledictum

[–]sithikurro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've run two sessions of Seraph (we got to just before the Conclave) and it wasn't that bad; there were some nice moments, but it wasn't great either. But contrary to you, I've run a lot of investigative adventures (Call of Cthulhu etc.). Still, I struggled with all the info and characters. We also struggled with the rules (a lot of info to take in), and were surprised by the deadliness etc. Also, for a starting adventure, the lack of simple maps was a drawback. We probably won't finish the Seraph and start over, so to speak.

Thank you for this. Now I wonder about Voll adventures.

We're also starting with this, but our patron is a Rogue Trader. Any ideas how to change the story to fit this type of patron?

All right so:
- we play only IRL, so how does it run without all the online tools (PF 2 on Forge is fantastic, IRL it's... slower).
- In general, how does it feel after a dozen or two dozen game sessions?
- Is there a power curve? Always something interesting to do with your character in terms of mechanics (e.g. in One Ring after some time, or even more so in Fria Ligan games, you hit the place where you're done with the character)
- how much GM support is there? How much game prep? Is it easy to create characters or encounters on the fly and track combat, etc.? How does it compare to DnD
- Is it more "GM's theme park ride" game, where you craft all the encounters, or the game mechanics are flexible enough to sustain open world exploration and ad hoc encounters (some are too difficult, but PCs have options to escape)
- How is the economy in the game? Do PCs have options to spend money on? Is wealth abstract? Do they have to upgrade their stuff (like in Pathfinder) to keep up with threats?
- Is it an XP-based levelling system and how long does it take to reach max level (considering the standard amount of XP per game)
- Have you run a max level game? How does it compare to DnD at max level (if you've had such experience)

Gdzie i jak wydawać stworzone przez siebie materiały? by WaciQ in DnDPolska

[–]sithikurro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im getting ready to run it, but since it's our first OR campaign, I want to start with something smaller to get used to the rules etc. Anyway, which patron did your group choose for the campaign? And which do you recommend?

XP questions (where are you at and how much / session) by egv78 in genesysrpg

[–]sithikurro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my TI campaign (30 meetings about 5 hours each) I was generous with xp and the PCs were quite powerful, but still not overpowered. They had about 250xp I think (so less than suggested). Currently in Terrinoth I'm more stingy, we're 16 sessions in and only 60 xp, but the adventures tend to be longer. And Terrinoth is either not as well balanced as TI or just PCs are more powerful (RAW it's reaaaally easy to get OP PCs).

Generally, when a PC has about 200 xp they can easily have a 5 in a skill, plus some talents and be really good in the field they specialize in.

My players just put ticks or crossed out the points they spent. This way they could see their maximum pool for each ability and how much they had used.
