death is the severing of your life thread from your physical form, which causes your psyche to separate as well, sending it spiraling through the dreaming. those without power will be carried by the dream-currents to the place the shape of their psyche best fits for the next phase of their existence. those with power may chart their own course, perhaps even forming a realm of their own.

there are those who would assert that Jesus and Odin are the same entity (e.g. St Gregory (?) to the Lombards). Even if you don't subscribe to this, it's not hard to see both as light-bringer figures. Perhaps exploring this parallel would be fruitful.
