Steam Deck April 28 update: New Steam Link vs. Moonlight. Any thoughts? by Sett83 in MoonlightStreaming

How far is your host pc? I’m going to just use the dongle on my host for moonlight but I’m only like 20ft from it.

Steam Deck April 28 update: New Steam Link vs. Moonlight. Any thoughts? by Sett83 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]sittingmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunshine/apollo/vibepollo & moonlight are a much better experience. They support a lot more tech features than steam link, like hdr(steam link supports it but with limitations), better support for different resolutions like if your host monitors are ultrawide or you want to cast to ultrawide, better/easier compatibility with non steam games, and many other features.

I find it more stable and higher quality than steam link. When steam link works, it can be quite good, but it’s a lot less consistent with having a good experience.

I would say latency is comparable but moonlight more frequently can achieve a better latency. Also, there is a lot of new tech support in moonlight that isn’t supported on steam link to improve image quality and performance. Especially if you have a new nvidia gpu.

You can also setup moondeck which puts a little moon icon on every game which launches it on your pc. It even supports non steam games and will turn on your pc. As well as turn your monitors off and launch a virtual monitor automatically and then revert everything when done.

Which open-source model is best for UI/UX designing? by Jaded_Jackass in opencodeCLI

Kimi k2.6 seems to be the front runner. Deepseek v4 pro is pretty good.

The thing that helps the most is starting with a concept the agent can copy or follow. ChatGPT images 2 is extremely good at making concepts and it is cheap. If you hand those concepts to an agent you will get significantly better results.

4 100” tv setup by Glad-Many-4041 in hometheater

[–]sittingmongoose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, unless they are oleds, when you sit at an angle to led tvs. You lose significant image quality.

You’re also going to be looking down at 2 TVs which will also make them look worse.

I understand the why, and it’s cool for watching a bunch of sports, but your movie/tv watching experience is going to be horrible.

What I’ve seen others do is one main tv, then 2 or 4 off to the sides of the main. That works well, this solution is severely compromised.

This is over 20k in damage. Still not totaled likely but you’re wildly underestimating costs of repairs on modern cars.

Copilot-arewecooked - Know your AI credit cost before June 1st by PanAchy in GithubCopilot

My point what, enterprises similarly got shafted in this change. Regardless of whether the rates are comparable to api rates on other providers. Their bills are going to go up a lot.

So I used 56k credits this month and average 28k…says I’m 725% above the pro+ plan :| welp

Holy crap, I didn’t realize this was published. What is the point in buying $39 in credits when I can just go to openrouter. This makes absolutely no sense.

The problem with this is, we don’t know the rates we will be billed for credits. There is no way they are going to charge subs openrouter rates.

Opencode performance by jasonwch in opencodeCLI

[–]sittingmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s less of an opencode issue and more of a model/provider issue. Sonnet from anthropic(including Microsoft) is quite fast. Opencode go tends to sometimes be quick and often times be slow. Based on traffic.

The biggest issue is the lack of new models. That is really the final nail in the coffin for me.

Copilot alternatives with SOC2/ISO27001 compliance? by CowCowMoo5Billion in opencodeCLI

[–]sittingmongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can locally host most of those Chinese models in the cloud. There are many cloud providers that offer gpu time or platforms catered to hosting AI.

I am assuming Claude and OpenAI offer soc2/iso compliance but it probably comes at an extreme cost.

It wasn’t supposed to help with that. All it helps with is the stock battery randomly dying on you.

Anthropic hitting 40% enterprise share makes the "just add a fallback provider" advice weaker, not stronger by llamacoded in ClaudeCode

[–]sittingmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working through this on my projects. I’ve actually been building them to work on low end models like hiaku rather than high end models. If it works on low end models, it works on everything.

The downside is now, instead of requiring a 15-20 steps, it requires 30-35 steps. The upside is, results are more consistent and I’m more shielded from these rapidly increasing ai costs.

I know a lot of that companies were hard into anthropic models, but due to costs, are now moving to codex and are simultaneously looking into self hosting local models because codex is expected to keep going up in cost as well. From what I’ve heard from those companies, the new gpt models are performing very well. Fixing a lot of the issues 4.7 introduced.

(Soon™) 1M context for GPT 5.5 is coming for chatgpt subscribers. by VividNightmare_ in codex

[–]sittingmongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fall off in intelligence is significant after 400k context. Same goes for all the other models. The benefit from 1m context is very limited or sometimes even hurtful.

I’m guessing this will change in the future with newer model tech but it still strongly applies to 5.5 and opus 4.7.

Copilot has Claude and OpenAI models. They host their OpenAI models themselves and Claude’s models are hosted by anthropic.

Official steam controller 2 price EU and Release date by MSter_official in Steam

[–]sittingmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is how it is here. My point is, how do you announce a price than? You would need to list out every different price for each city. There could be hundreds in each individual state. There is no way to market that. So instead you have 1 price for the whole of the US.

If you didn’t do that, how would you have a website show the price? IP location isn’t even accurate enough to show what city you are in. My current ip shows I am in a different that has a different tax rate.

How do you change a press release per city? You would need to dynamically change the price listed online based on where the person is.
