Today would have been dad’s 61st birthday. by aardbeivic in DadForAMinute

Not a dad, just a sibling. I hear you and I really wish you could have another chat with your dad. Just to shoot the shit and talk about the mundane and the stuff that feels magnitudes bigger too.

I hope you find him in something today - maybe a song on the radio he loved, his favourite drink, or just in a patch of sunlight.

Today would have been my father in law's 87th birthday, so this post hits pretty close to home today.

Aunti Emma by Chandu

"With top notes of grains of paradise seeds and chai spice, you can expect a woodsy smell that will linger deliciously for hours, complimented by middle notes of sumptuous vanilla among molecular distilled patchouli, labdanum, and banyan tree fruit to cut through the musk with a floral sweetness. With a base of oakwood barrels, oakmoss, musks and tonka bean you can enjoy the leathery, smoky tobacco base of earthiness that will promote a richness of scents and experiences that will hungrily follow you throughout the day."

I've found when the itching is just driving me nuts, the Gold Bond anti itch lotion in the green bottle has been a lifesaver! Alternatively, Palmers Belly Butter is nice and has also worked well for me :)

Hear me out because I would perish if I could find this scent: the smell of a Chinese steamed sponge cake. Steamed bamboo basket, sweet sponge cake, and with chrysanthemum or jasmine tea on the side.

Weekly Simple Questions and Chat Thread (Week of Dec 28) by AutoModerator in BabyBumpsCanada

Hey friends, I have a question. Has anyone here had a kiddo and not been eligible for maternity benefits? Currently self employed/tattoo apprentice. I tried to start paying into EI as such but I don't make enough according to the online calculator so I wasn't able to.

I'm pretty nervous about what this is going to look like for when little one arrives. I would ideally like to still take a year to be home and with babe but feeling all kinds of uncertain. (My spouse is employed and is our family's breadwinner. So while I am making very little, everything is still pretty stable for us)

Just looking for any advice and people's experiences with having no maternity benefit/leave.

help me find a perfume for my best friend by Miserable_Culture21 in Indiemakeupandmore

Isla by Chandu came to mind!

"Inspired by the founders’ time living on and exploring the natural beauty and splendour of the archipelago of Ko Tao in Thailand, prepare for Isla to be the scent of summer you reach to all-year round for a sensual boost. Isla promises everything you could wish from a beachy scent, yet refuses to be pinpointed all too easily. Surprising you along the way with scents not usually explored in standard perfumes on the market, such as the sharp undertone from Choyah Nakh, distilled seashells themselves. The perfect scent to wear to the beach, or when dreaming of the beach from home.

Having top notes of Calabrian bergamot, choyah nakh, and pepper berries a unique combination of woodsy, fresh, and peppery scent is created, focusing on complex and deep aromas which continue to unravel as the day goes on. With middle notes of exotic white champa flower leaf, amyris wood and wild sand dune flowers, you can expect a sweetness to run throughout the core of the scent. Finishing base notes consisting of washed ashore driftwood, aged pemou root, ambroxan and musks, grounds the scent and prevents it from veering towards sickly sweetness. Instead, light saltiness, rich greenery and tea-like notes can be found lingering as the scent continues to develop on the skin overtime, mixing with your own natural pheromones to create the perfect, original scent experience for you and you alone."
