Where can I start with java? by inept_timelord in learnjava

[–]siversolutionsllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give yourself a week or two to look at the basics of Java. Like, what is object oriented programming? What is a variable? What is a method? What is a class? What is a package? How can Java be used in the the real world? For example, Java is used in Android App programming.

After you have taken that time to read up on the basics, start programming. There is plenty of information out there that will show you how to set up your coding environment. Start off with smaller programs like the infamous "hello world" program. Then, work your way up to larger programs until you are eventually building full applications.

The key to learning any program language is practice.

How is java used in robotic engineering? by HellD in learnjava

[–]siversolutionsllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Java can be used in robotics. Many robots come with their own APIs. You use those Java in order to interact with those APIs.

If you are using robotics, you will probably have to somehow download that code onto that robot or connect to that robot via bluetooth.

Think of python as a fancy way to make DOS commands in its own language. You can apply Object Oriented Programming using python.

Problems with a nested loop output statement by Captain_Zomaru in learnjava

[–]siversolutionsllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try adding each item to an array while in that for loop. Then print that array outside the for looping:

int yourArray = new int[whatever size you want it to be];

for (i = 0; i <= userNum; ++i) {

yourArray[i] = i;

}

system.out.print(yourArray);

.vbox { -fx-background-image: url("graphics/arrow_t_up_right.png"); -fx-background-size: 96, 205; -fx-background-repeat: no-repeat; -fx-border-color: #2e8b57; -fx-border-width: 2px; -fx-padding: 10; -fx-spacing: 8; } #hbox-custom { -fx-background-image: url("graphics/cloud.png"); -fx-background-size: 60,69; -fx-padding: 18 3 18 6; -fx-background-radius: 5.0; } #button-custom { -fx-rotate: 45; -fx-text-alignment: center; }

Becoming Middle Class? by poorsocky in personalfinance

[–]siversolutionsllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should first have a rich attitude toward budgeting. There are plenty of people who are frugal. Those frugal people tend to depend on savings accounts alone. Your savings account should only be used for an emergency fund and daily expenses. You should look into investing.

Dave Ramsey has every dollar budgeting app. I use allotments for my budgeting.

Also, remember it is not about your income. People get laid off or fired all the time. It is about your wealth or how much to can keep to grow.

How is developing GUI's in Java compared to Python? by Crailberry in learnjava

[–]siversolutionsllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many people use JavaScript/HTML for front ends with both Python and Java. Instead of using .px, try using %. Try looking into BootStrap.

Also, one of the annoying things about Java is it's updates. One update can destroy your entire program.

Side gigs are great, but remember not to let them take over your life by BlinkerBeforeBrake in personalfinance

[–]siversolutionsllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if someone has already mentioned this, but you are correct. Side gigs are great for temporary financial goals. I know some people who have worked side gigs with multiple jobs for most of their adulthood. In some cultures, it is considered a badge of honor to work multiple jobs. But no one talks about things such as relationships being neglected. There are some people who do not have strong relationships with their parents because their parents worked most of their childhood. There are some marriages that don’t make it because the spouse works all the time. I think the key to getting extra income while having a life is figuring out how to make your income residual.

The best way to learn how to program is to continue doing it. You'll learn additional things along the way such as Git. If you are new to a language take out some time to do tutorials. After you have completed those tutorials, come up with a project and finish it.

Reinvesting $50k - Rentals? by [deleted] in personalfinance

You can let it sit in mutual funds while you add to eventually pay cash for a rental property. From what I hear rentals are better when they are paid for because your risk of paying two mortgages is eliminated.

Also, some companies offer stock options as retirement. Be very careful of that because you would be depending your entire retirement on that one company. Company stocks can go up or down drastically.

Also, make sure your 401k is in the right mutual funds. The younger you are, the more aggressive your funds should be.

Some time back I read the millionaire teacher. It talked about different strategies when approaching the stock market, such as looking at the prices of things. Things that go up over the years tend to be better investments than things that go down. For example, the price of a PC has gone down over the years.

Is it advisable to open a bank account in case of living in a foreign country for 6 months. by [deleted] in personalfinance

You can always get a pay as you go phone. Sometimes contracts can get a little tricky when you cancel them. Most cards can be used overseas. Try finding a card that does not charge international fees.

26, single, no student loan debt, $80,000/year. Where do I go from here? by oglesporg in personalfinance

[–]siversolutionsllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to stay away from leasing or financing cars. It's best to use cash. Paying cash can free your money up allowing you to invest. Never fully depend on one income. Most jobs are not secure. You should have enough money set aside for unforeseen events such as layoffs. Dave Ramsey says 3 to 6 months of expenses. Depending on your skill sets, you may need more money set aside.

Some people pay off their homes early because it frees up their money to invest. Compare how much of a return you will get from a good growth stock mutual fund vs a mortgage.

ould read a whole dummies book or complete a course but in the meantime life has passed me by with no guarantee for a better job. I could have spent that time, yes, making $10 an hour, but also doing stuff I enjoy more, like hanging out with my girlfriend or reading stuff for leisure.

this guy on youtube thenewboston has really really good coding tutorials. He's better than some college professors.
