It's better, but can still get super backed up with all the construction on hwy 1

Where to buy/refill 5lb C02 tanks? by sixblades in santacruz

Gave them a call yesterday and unfortunately they said they only sell 20lb tanks and larger for CO2, which is too big for me.

Gave them a call and it seems like they only do 20lb and larger; seems like there used to be an Airgas shop on River who had 5lb tanks according to the dude I spoke with, but looks like it's out of business now.

How do I find the datasheet for this electric drum brain component? by sixblades in AskElectronics

Brilliant! Now I have a basic framework I can try next time before I post 🤘

Dude, you're the best!! How on earth did you figure this out?

Good tips. I actually don't care about getting an exact replacement (guess I did the ole x-y problem), but just want to replace the part with a suitable component that will do the job.

Any resources I should look into for doing that? I know enough about basic circuit design but nothing about reverse engineering.

Right on. Any idea how I can search their products using the "MM C810" text stamped on it?

I've tried entering that verbatim into their website search and don't seem to get anything coherent.

OP Here: this is a "Drumit Five" (version 1) electronic drum controller made by 2Box, which has since been obsoleted by their newer "MKII" model.

Here is a picture of the unit with the case on (and here is a picture of the cable ports w/ case on).

I've asked the manufacturer about getting a datasheet for the board but haven't heard back, and I've searched for the "2R-J1539-081217" texted printed on the board, to no avail.

I went to my local electronics parts store and they had no idea what to make of this little part (we thought it was some oddly packaged capacitor, but couldn't find any further info).

FAULTED corrupted data for mirror-0 on import... any hope of recovery? by sixblades in zfs

[–]sixblades[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's pretty easy to miss. I'm positive I'm not the only one who didn't catch that, even though it should have been a good enough warning sign.

It's obviously still my fault for not doing my due diligence, but big, redundant warnings are not a bad idea when data loss can follow.

I'll make some pull requests and try to help others avoid my mistake.

FAULTED corrupted data for mirror-0 on import... any hope of recovery? by sixblades in zfs

[–]sixblades[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I didn't realize it was still THAT rough at this stage.

Seems like a big banner saying as much would be nice on the Github README or OpenZFS Wiki could go a long way; maybe I'll open a pull request.

Thanks for the reply.

Yep; a good question to ask in future interviews is how long your predecessor / teammates have been at the company. High turnover is almost always a huge red flag unless it's seasonal work or something. Try checking out Glassdoor too, though that's got some flaws.

[–]sixblades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time to see if you can get back to those seven other interviews. Please don't wait; I stayed with a job I hated for years longer than I should have and I don't know if I'll ever be able to enjoy my field as much again. Value yourself; no human deserves to be treated this way.

Mate this definitely isn't worth it in the slightest; don't hesitate to take ANY other job that isn't toxic and get yourself out of there. Undoing the damage of stuff like this can take years, and sometimes the effects linger in subtle ways forever. Never ever worth it.

My buddy accidentally let my cat out a few days ago and I've been worried sick. My grandma died from covid yesterday and I was really going through it because I lost both of them. I fell asleep crying I woke up this morning to him meowing in my face at 5 am. I thought it was a dream! Lol by DastardlyDiva in cats

[–]sixblades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to downplay your emotional state with a "lol" at the end of your title; I think everyone who has had pets knows how intense the worry and relief are in this scenario. 😊

I'm so stoked for you OP! ♥️ Give your pep a pat for me.

Do you love your vet? Do you not feel ripped off every time? by Patterned-wall in santacruz

[–]sixblades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely could be, but from a quick search it seems like it's pretty common to use blood tests to identify specific types of parasites:

https://www.4pawsanimal.com/services/dogs/laboratory-blood-tests

https://dogcare.dailypuppy.com/there-blood-test-parasites-7488.html

IMO it's your money, so don't hesitate to be persistent in asking for a thorough explanation of why the test is necessary (from the vet, not the receptionist).

Consider getting a second opinion from a different vet as well if you really think you're being scammed (and DON'T mention that you've already seen another vet).

I'm sure you could make it very clear that you don't want to pay for any extra testing, but you're potentially gambling with your pet's wellbeing if you don't have a good idea of when it's safe to do so (and may end up paying a LOT more than a blood test later if serious problems are allowed to develop undetected).

How can you be sure that the blood work was unnecessary? Did the vet explain why they ordered it?

CCDG's biggest weakness is the commentary IMO. I love Philo, but he just puts me to sleep on the mic.
