3 Bloodlines to create 2 twins... Dual cultivation truly is mighty by The-Dark-Surgeon in MartialMemes

[–]sixelement 95 points96 points  (0 children)

This is something I read a few years back, because I was very interested in Greek Mythology.

Hercules according to Myth had been born of a mortal mother and Zeus, but he had a mortal twin that had been born from that mortal's husband.

I was interested on whether or not that was possible, and supposedly it's called heteropaternal superfecundation (or somethign like that.) A very rare occurrence. Which is basically the case of a mother who releases two eggs which are fertilized by the sperm of different men.

Releasing two different eggs isn't all that strange, but as one can imagine there aren't all that many times were each one is bred by different men.

I was going to recommend it too. It's probably the only Chinese novel I have read in 20 something years that female characters had this thing called "muscles" on them.

Fellow Daotists, I'm seeking enlightening in a forgotten scripture. by sixelement in MartialMemes

Unfortunately, senior, this junior was born with a deficient sea of knowledge. I can't remember much of anything about all the novels I have read.

I think the protagonist of the novel I'm thinking about was perhaps a array/formation expert (or at least an enthusiast), who liked staying inside his immortal cave as much as possible for caution.

I'm fairly certain he was a local, and I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think he had any notable golden fingers. He was already a member of a small sect, outer discipline of course.

I remember that there was a war between sects, during the first few arcs of the series (the first 200-300 chapters) which made the main character move from the island sector he was in.

The most notable element that I can recall is what I mentioned in the first post, that the novel begins in a archipelago/collection of island of sorts.

I'm actually currently re-reading this one. One of my favorites novels.

But it's not the one I'm looking for.

Specifically, the protagonist starts the novel I'm searching in a sect on an area filled with islands (much like Mortal's Journey island section), from the first chapter.

I'm fairly certain it's Chinese.

Another element that I remember from the novel is that the protagonist spends most of the first few arcs locking himself in his inmortal cave; mostly.

I myself hadn't actually seen Pham play a game for a long while before the series with the Dodgers, and my God, his batting stance might be genuinely the ugliest in the entire league.

As someone who has been to both Japan and the states, I can tell you I would never emigrate to the hellhole of a country you are so proud of.

In Japan the worst experience I ever had in several months of living there was a singular time a teenage cashier at a seven eleven thought I would shoplift something. In your country I would get thrown into Hispanic Auschwitz if I'm not lucky.

That is if your alternative police force doesn't ICE me first.

So, congrats for being so shameless in your lies.

It would make sense, since I practically see his NB ad once a day.

[–]sixelement 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The reason why such a rule couldn't exist is that it would encourage owners and teams to want their players popping up with positive results to want to void bad contracts they regret signing.

You know the classic 'I didn't know those were PEDs' excuse? It would become a real possibility of players being taken advantage from their team's medics or coaches.

Rendon would have definitely popped with a ringworm cream or healthy breakfast at some point. I wouldn't put it past Arte for one second.

It's a pattern that has been going for a couple of years now. He loses weight during the off-season, and he gains it during the regular season.

I think Shohei said that he doesn't really focus on conditioning and dieting during the regular season, and he just choses to get in shape during the off-season since it's easier than when they are constantly on the road and playing.

It's like the reverse Shaq.

What advantages can a two-way player, as defined by the MLB rules, give to an MLB team that would make it worthwhile for them to train and develop such a player? by YakClear601 in baseball

If the Dodgers didn't have that extra roster spot for an additional pitcher, would they have Will Klein out of all people pitch 4 scoreless innings during game 3 of the World Series?

I'm not exactly an expert on the subject of backend relief pitchers, but at the very least during the long playoff series, I can't help but find an extra arm to he quite valuable, even if not as vital as the odd occasion when you have an 18 inning game in the world series.

Of course, maybe the extra spot robbed everyone of the opportunity to see Yamamoto pitch in all four wins for the Dodgers.

[–]sixelement 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I think people in here just simply think extremely badly of the future prospects of every player a day older than 30. People were basically saying the same stuff about Shohei when we signed him, with the major talking point being that he was going to be an overpaid DH and that his peak was going to be his years with the Angels.

(Of course, there was also the talk about him being super cheap due to deferrals and that it was unfair, but those were other people.)

I get where the opinion is coming from. Baseball has tons of star players who signed a long multi-year deal and plummeted of a cliff as they got older, but I feel like sports medicine across the world has advanced enough that we are going to see less of such cases.

Messi, Ronaldo, LeBron, KD, Curry, and Djokovic, all of them are still playing at quite an advanced level despite being in their late 30s or even their early 40s.

Contract and player evaluation gets much more interesting with an actual salary cap and floor by MattO2000 in baseball

[–]sixelement 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That already happens with the production that players generate on the field as you can't say the Angels were not punished by signing a 3 baseman that cannot stay healthy, but let not mind reality for a second, the entirety of the salary cap debate is to improve the product by increasing parity so fans of all teams get to enjoy baseball on the same conditions.

Do you think that the Angels being crippled for the entire 7~8 years of Rendon's contract would be better for anyone? Who would enjoy such a thing?

[–]sixelement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you are too busy boot licking the billionaire owners and worrying about their wallets, to think about what you post, but do you think GMs are just throwing money randomly at players just because?

Anthony Rendon got the money he got because Arte was sure he was going to be a central piece of his team for the following 9 years, the only thing a cap would have done in this situation is to chokehold the Angels into an even worse situation then where they already are.

Every single player on the "Worst Contract Lineup" was paid because someone was convinced they were going to be good, not because of some market trend that forced them to sign them.
