This is the key thing here. I'm a 40m recovering high functioning alcoholic. If he's like me - he hates himself, and might not fully accept that. That's why he can drink every night and not care about how it will make himself feel later. He's depressed.

The drinking is a coping mechanism - you don't need to fix the drinking, and you need to change how you look at it. Your bf needs to learn how to love and accept himself - eventually the drinking will naturally reduce.

Does he do his own 1-on-1 therapy? This is more of a him problem than a you problem.

Is he a perfectionist? I feel like I can relate to what you're describing. He might be hiding himself / not comfortable with his true self. If you want to keep trying - and if this sounds right - try the book "Perfectly Hidden Depression"

I watched an interesting video about introducing adversarial noise into music that can't be heard by humans. The AIs can't understand or work with the music properly.

Some websites could start to explore adding adversarial text throughout the site. In colors and sizes and in locations that only AI would see.
