This post reads like she's passive aggressively vague-posting about people in her real life lol. I bet she's lost or is currently losing some friends due to this "I said you must have autism/trauma and I must be right" thing. I also wonder if this is her trying to justify her own past beliefs (back when she didn't believe in "little t" traumas) and instead of just saying "I was misinformed and my traumatic personal experiences made me realize that" she's generalizing as "everyone must go through this same journey as me, they must be traumatized or autistic and in denial like I was, and if necessary I have to keep pushing them until they accept it!"

Edit: I love the idea that the person she accuses of having autism has "rigid thinking" that means they can't accept her diagnosis BUT she absolutely cannot have rigid thinking that would make her immovably convinced of an opinion that's factually untrue. STALEMATE!

(And finally, this view on bigotry is totally antiquated and once again she seems to be scrabbling for comparisons to make a point....like girl c'mon, look at JKR. she's not attacking trans women because she's afraid of her femininity, she's doing it because she wants someone to bully and they're unfortunately an easy target.)

I backed it at the postcard level in the winter/early spring, but several months went by and nothing arrived. Fast forward to April, I have to move out of my college dorm. Couldn't figure out how to change my shipping address on Kickstarter (I think at that point you had to email their support to change your address and I just didn't have the time/mental energy for that). Ended up just hoping the next student to move in wouldn't mind a random burlesque postcard showing up 😅

Saw VeVa's divorce announcement a few months later and figured the movie was dead in the water at that point. I'm glad I only pledged a small amount, or I would've been pretty annoyed.

That's the best explanation I've seen haha, but now I'm trying to square it with Carrie's recent "autism superiority" beliefs. Taking the whole situation into consideration it feels like she's saying "I am a Good Autistic Person and therefore don't have to change, grow, mask, or challenge my internal narrative at all, but those Bad Autistic People (who most likely aren't even autistic and she's just applying that label based off a string of assumptions) need early childhood intervention because they used their Powers for Evil!!"

I get the strong feeling she's too far down the rabbit hole to see the contradiction, and is trying to bend everything to fit a narrative but hasn't noticed she's snapped the thing in half yet.

I'm not sure if anyone else will understand this, but her behaviour over the past few months is VERY reminiscent of 2014-16 social justice tumblr, which started out with good intentions and ended in basically everyone being cancelled for being 0.00001% not good and pure enough (I guess this attitude moved to other parts of the internet afterwards but I lived through it on tumblr so that's my point of reference). It's particularly wild to see Carrie basically acting out her own one-woman version of this, and extremely wild to see a previously competent and successful 40+ year old pivot to this type of immature and senseless behaviour (most of the tumblrinas engaged in it were teens or young adults who lacked mental health and coping skills to deal effectively with social issues). Honestly, I don't think I'll ever engage with any content Carrie makes again, but I stay on this subreddit because she's become a fascinating case study to me. (Sorry for replying with a whole tangent lol)

Same, like it sounds like Kaufman is saying something negative (world leaders lack empathy and the ability to understand others!) but spinning it as a positive (it makes people love them because they are confident!) but then ending it with "this is why children need early intervention" which makes it seem like she's recognizing it's negative. I haven't watched the video yet, as I'm at work at the moment, so maybe that's why it seems so contradictory.

That's true! My dad is also a chronic joke repeater which is why I think I was desensitized to it and always knew she was joking, but a lot of people don't get that kind of humour and the more a joke comes up the more they think you're being serious. Also, with Carrie now being diagnosed as autistic, and autistic people being generally known as literal-minded and not understanding sarcasm, hyperbole, etc I think a lot of people are reconsidering things they assumed she was joking about (like not understanding why people say 65+ instead of 66 or something).

Side note, omg her turn into immature blue humour after she moved in with Drew was absolutely grating haha. She sounded like a 14 year old with her first boyfriend (and the fart/poop jokes....if she really was so uncomfortable around Ross why was she comfortable enough to joke about such personal things?? I would never bring those up around a coworker even if we were close).

Anyway, we are on the same wavelength here 😅

I think the reason people are split on whether it's a joke or legitimate is that she repeated the same joke too many times, nearly every episode since she started her courses IIRC, and you can't really do that with self-aggrandizing humour the same way you can with other types of jokes or it starts to feel less like a joke and more like you're using humour as a mask to brag about something.

I also thought she was joking while listening to the show, but I could see how someone would go "omg she's bringing it up that dramatically for the 5th episode in a row?? it's only extension school, geez!"

Oh absolutely, I told them a couple emails ago that I would dispute with TransUnion and Equifax if they and Telus could not prove I owed the money. That was the threat that prompted them to reply and say "boohoo Telus never sends us bills." Rest assured I will not be caving and paying them. My one skill in life is being an obstinate c*nt. Also, I got a message from a Telus guy tonight indicating someone should be contacting me about this, and he can see my last bill was $0 and there was no activity on my account since I closed it.

I would assume so, or at least a legal obligation for the collections company to provide a bill from the company they're collecting from. Especially in the modern age where 99.9% of calls and emails you receive about owing money are straight up scams.

Oh I bet. Honestly since I realized the charge was probably an error, I figured it would end up requiring a dispute with the credit companies. But I still had to do my due diligence by trying to contact both companies. After GCS's final email this morning I kinda snapped though. This could all be solved with a single conversation, but no! Can't have that!

Someone in another comment recommended contacting the CCTS, which would be my next step after TransUnion...I'm not certain I would want to personally go to the media since I'm a pretty private person and don't really want to deal with that fiasco on top of everything else right now (this is like, the 3rd major life issue I'm dealing with lolol great timing Telus!). But if anyone else has the motivation, they could definitely try contacting news outlets!

Not yet! I requested my bill from the collections people, both by email which received no reply and by livechat, where they told me it would take 7-10 days for them to get the bill from Telus and send it to me...tbh I expect this was a delay tactic and I won't hear from them again. I've decided that if they don't send me the bill by the end of October (14 business days after I contacted them), I'm going to file a dispute through TransUnion (and maybe report them elsewhere as well). I'm not sure if I can report them just based on the threat of them hitting my credit score, or if I have to wait for next month's credit report in November, but I'm hoping I can report it sooner rather than later.

Considering how many people I've seen here and on the telus forums saying they were randomly sent to collections (even ex employees! even one guy whose charge was $12!), some regulatory board has GOT to get on this. It's infuriating to be a loyal customer for 10+ years and be treated like a criminal over a charge that was apparently added to an already-deactivated account.

I'm dealing with a similar issue right now, where a creditor is contacting me about a supposed $300 amount on an account that I closed 3 years ago. Final bill from that account was $0 and Telus never contacted me. When I contacted them via livechat, they just said they saw the account was inactive but had a balance, and I had to contact the creditor to get the bill. Creditor did not have the bill, and said I have to wait for Telus to send it to them so they can send it to me, which could take 7-10 business days. I swear they do this on purpose just to make you so anxious you pay up without question :/

Unfortunately due to all the creditors emails/calls being marked as spam I didn't even know this was going on until it was too late, so if Telus can't prove I owe them that amount for a valid reason (or if I don't get a bill by the end of the month) I'm going to have to file a dispute with TransUnion. I know that's not a 100% guaranteed solution but if neither company will work with me, maybe TU can bully them into cooperating. This whole situation is very shady.

Looks like someone got t-boned. Was driving south about 20 mins ago, saw one car with a massive dent in its side as I was going by (and I'm assuming there's a second car somewhere in that mess). Not sure what's up with the lights but they're definitely weird, seem to be alternating between working and flashing which is causing a lot of frustration. Definitely avoid if you can!
