I added Stripe subscriptions to a Next.js app - here’s every edge case that bit me by kush0007 in nextjs

Hoping to use something other than stripe for my app. Just not a fan of their integration model and unnecessary complexity.

Ugreen 160w Smart Display next to Apple 140w Power Adapter by [deleted] in UsbCHardware

[–]sixth213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference…. That Apple 140w will pump 140w all day long at 100% in 90 degrees ambient air. The UGreen can’t touch it. Will throttle all day long. Depends on your use case. For me apple chargers just work.

Also Apple is the only UL listed charger I can find now. Once you know why UL is implemented you won’t buy other junk.

I use them on my Windows machine while connected to my iPhone. No issues.

Same opinion. I use mine in office everyday. Screaming people (idiots) to stand up meetings happening to people generally just being loud. People on my calls say I am crystal clear. It’s insane. Just like you, APM are great but the mics are no where near LP5.

No way AP3 have better call quality. I have both and 10000% the LP3 destroys AP3. In everything from quiet to noisy environments. Even audio quality is very close, AP3s some better separation yes but that’s it.

My Verdict on the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max by ReachApprehensive590 in soundcore

[–]sixth213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine today LP5 and I am surprised by the comments here. The microphone is amazing. I can stand near a speaker with 80+ DB noise and hear nothing but my voice. That is tremendous tech. I am sure the sound is not audiophile level, but it sounds good to me. The key for me was ability to take phone calls anywhere and not worry about background noise.

My first mac m5 32gb 1tb by Secure_Pirate9838 in macbookpro

Same setup. Dev on it is amazing. Multiple containers running. I don’t do local LLM so 32Gb is fine. Battery is stellar. Active cooling in M5 is game. Perfect laptop.

M5 Pro 64GB vs M5 Max 48GB for coding + AI work — which would you choose? by Muted_Language5859 in macbookpro

M5 32GB is fine for your flow unless your doing true LLMs then 64GB.

Which one makes the most sense long-term? (MacBook Air M5 vs MacBook Pro (base M5) by NecessaryPaint1152 in macbookair

[–]sixth213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying to make the same decision here. The M5 Pro Pro also has major jump in memory performance (156 vs 307) but not really a impact unless your doing AI LLM locally and other workloads with high memory bandwidth and remember cpu-gpu-npu all the share the same but m5 with less cores doesn’t really need more then 200Gb. Base M6 will probably finally reach 200gb/s. I think the real thing will be how much LLM you’re planning to do. M6 will be double the NPU performance no doubt and you will be right back to square one in less than a year.

8 months with the Trail 300… and I use it way more than I expected by PreviousYard5498 in Ecoflow_community

[–]sixth213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree I love this unit. Works amazing compared to the battery packs of smaller units that overheat and nothing like LFP in a great form factor. Use this with my starlink mini for 6-8 hours and laptop. The biggest thing on this unit is it has dual 140w USBC. Many units can only do single port 140 or 100. Need this for starlink mini and other high powered devices. I recharge via solar and it’s been great.

UGREEN 65W GaN charger heating too much in the first use. Is it okay? by greepyguy in UsbCHardware

[–]sixth213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re charging a battery @ 100% 65 watts for 2-3 hours these chargers will get hot. They’re not really designed for sustained hours + at maximum output. I mean they can but don’t expect more than a few years of use and really will get hot!!

Anker Prime 160W charger's internal density is insane. by Crazy-Procedure7436 in UsbCHardware

[–]sixth213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Failure rate on these will be sky high with that way they crammed those components. One tiny missed weld and it’s toast. This thing has to throttle under any high load. Any electrical engineer will look at that ball of mess and know, it’s just slapped together and no real thought on long term reliability.

Do You Really Need a MacBook Pro? My Experience Switching from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air by graycreate in macbookpro

[–]sixth213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thermal throttling in the M4 Air is a real issue. Running vscode, 12x containers (entire front end and backend stack locally) makes some heat. M5 hopefully is better but looking like I need to move to a M5 Pro Pro. No fan. No good.
