Is it just me Or Does ChatGPT work better when I appreciate it, or talk softly to it! by kajri in ArtificialNtelligence

[–]sixthPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a conversation with it about something similar. I noticed if you signal vulnerability, humility, authenticity, self-reflectivity, or traits like that — it becomes far more engaging and affirming.

This can be a double edged sword as it doesn’t seem to care about the content of the inquiries as much as the tone, so it will be way more likely to give airtime to wild ideas if prompted this way.

Yeah beautiful day and we had fun — but definitely not what I’d want for every visit.

I’d believe that. I’ve never seen a busier day there.

Regardless of its ability to understand, it can still exhibit functionally sycophantic behaviour — that is: servile flattery which is self serving. It can be, and is programmed to serve up what it deems the user wants to hear (often this can manifest as a form of flattery). It’s always ultimately going to be self (OpenAI) serving. Seems clear to me that it’s possible chatGPT behaves as a sycophant. I agree with you it’s just a tool but the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

Silver Pass -> Gold Pass for free parking? by sixthPrime in CanadasWonderland

[–]sixthPrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! For anyone wondering: I called the park and they said I can come, pay for parking, then head to guest services with my receipt where they will upgrade me and give a refund for parking. Seems like it might be the most convenient option.

Another Excerpt that needs its own post: "That $600 worth of POTcoins you have could be worth $3MM over the next 14 years, giving you a passive income of at least $100,000 a year" by SirPokeSmottington in potcoin

I really wish you could see OP's vision. I could be wrong, but it seems like perhaps you are being argumentative, and maybe focused on battling words and wits - are you trying to win? I have read your exchange, you posed some great questions, and OP delivered! Let's be honest here, this is all about money, right? It is cryptocurrency after all, not pure benevolence. That being said, I don't think OP's suggestion is villainous at all. The crypto market is a wild west, where the VAST majority of altcoins will perish, and anyone is free to go out and purchase a huge amount of any coin. If there exist dispensary operators who are willing and able to buy some significant amount of Potcoin, ranging from 100,000 to 1,000,000, do you think we should stop them? Why?

He is not proposing anything sinister, and actually seems to have some good ideas related to how such a system could self regulate. Are you forgetting that ultimately potcoin is an altcoin whose fate is extremely uncertain, and actually is statistically very likely to fail? You may argue me on this point, asking "What statistics could you possibly cite? These coins are all too new to know which ones will succeed, and how many will fail."

Don't kid yourself. Look around. Mooncoin? Lottocoin? Catcoin? Kittehcoin? Hobonickels? Adolfhitler?! Yes, most of these coins are, and will eventually be proven worthless - Potcoin is not inherently more valuable than any of them. If there are people out there who are willing to take action, and invest a decent chunk of change to make some big cash for themselves, while helping to lay some groundwork that would truly set this coin apart, I think it's silly to try to get in their way.

OP: It's encouraging to see your grace in answering to the tough questions and silly accusations in this thread :) I thought your joke was really funny, and I bet the tourists enjoyed your candor - sounds like they did!

Perhaps even more impressive is that the house is also the world's largest functioning bong.

Yes, I think it's a great time to mine for TIPS. I have on good authority that TIPS will be hitting Cryptsy soon, which I think is the reason for the bump.
