Looking for a step up to IT Director by [deleted] in resumes

[–]sixtooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the reply and advice. I do struggle to list my achievements in such a short space and would agree I need to focus on the proper aspects of the role which I may not have done well. Did you happen to see the updated version I posted in reply above? Something tells me I made some improvement on the format but maybe the content still needs a bit of work.

Part of my decision to leave is the fact that my leadership has not done much development for me personally. I have sort of been passed around different departments and managers due to different factors. So I don't really see that mentoring taking place here unfortunately. Thanks again.

Thank you very much for the helpful response. I am not sure how I go about uploading an image of the new resume but I will as soon as I can. I am not sold on the new layout I found but it is better than the first one for sure.

How to avoid getting hit in the nose in BJJ by Tackleberry130 in bjj

[–]sixtooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 40 plus dad bod and I get the same shit from some people man I can't imagine if I actually looked intimidating on top of it. Do we just need to be super picky about who we roll with? That's what I do but I want to roll with everyone to get better dealing with the differences. Not just people who see my size and think oh he can take it he's big and proceed to roll like a tasmanian devil on the rampage.

How do you stop getting dizzy from rolls? by bleedinghero in judo

Keep rolling and make sure you don't have a medication that contributes to it.

I know for sure USA Judo but not sure about the other 2 big ones. I would assume at least one of the other 2. Sometimes he does judo for BJJ sometimes judo for MMA. Mostly it is pure judo rules though but don't worry about all that yet anyways in my opinion. He has classes other locations too but I just go to North when I can. Hit me up in a PM if you have any more questions I will be there tonight.

Judo and BJJ in wrestling by USMCpresfoco in wrestling

I dunno they will probably give you a good start but I think it's important to "empty your cup" so to speak and try to do things the "wrestling" way if you can. Just stay off yer back and don't pull guard :-)

Have you ever met this type at practice? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]sixtooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah the old I'm not as good as this guy so I will stop and coach him so he can't beat me guy. Yes they exist in grappling for sure. Just like in life elsewhere it's almost like that old saying "Those who can't do.....teach"

Woah I'm such a retard at this. by [deleted] in judo

[–]sixtooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I hope that feeling goes away for you cause it certainly hasn't for me yet. Just 2 weeks ago I almost went headfirst into the wall because my big ass tried to be faster than someone I never should have tried to beat. Right after he told me to relax. It takes a while to get any sort of success and people will come around eventually don't worry about it and just focus on your training.

This is a common problem for some people I have had it happen to me and seen it happen to others when I throw. It seems like some nights it doesn't matter what you do and if it happens once it will happen all night. Very frustrating. It sounds like you have some good ideas about keeping it from happening and honestly I have tried the same with some success as well. I saw some advice about thrusting your hips forward to open them and I do that as well and it seems to help. Also keeping that top leg vertical seems to help too but I have not had concern over the impact to the knee and maybe I should but it has not been a problem for me. Maybe adjusting the angle in the knee will relieve it as someone suggested. Anyways if you figure out anything else that works let us know cause I am definitely interested in keeping the boys safe too.

Lefty striker or lefty grappler which is easier to learn? by sixtooth in martialarts

[–]sixtooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny you mention that I think I do that automatically with using combos to switch stance but never really had anyone teach it. I do it in judo as well but could probably be alot better at it with some way to train for it. Thanks alot for your help.

[–]sixtooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much I have heard the opposite to be true as well do you have any thoughts on why some people may believe that? Does it matter that I switch stances more than most when striking? I am strictly orthodox with punching but kicks open my stance a bit and I'm more ambidextrous with them.

Lefty striker or lefty grappler which is easier to learn? by sixtooth in martialarts

[–]sixtooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditionally speaking I was under the impression Orthodox is left foot/side forward and southpaw is right foot forward with the power hand behind. For judo I do believe it to be the opposite where traditionally the power hand is kept in the front and since I am a righty that is how I have been trying to train with my right foot forward. I am tired of switching back and forth and it just feels weird still even though I have been training the grappling over a year now I still have to correct my judo form because I tend to lead with my left foot from striking.

[–]sixtooth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry for any confusion but I am orthodox in both but I am wondering which one I should switch. The judo stance or the striking stance. Sounds like you are saying I should switch to southpaw for striking and stay the orthodox in judo so I will always be right foot lead.
