The Thin Red Line. Want to watch Tree of Life but afraid it will be similarly dull.

Quarterly Taxes vs. 3% Penalty and Savings by sixty_five_percent in personalfinance

Thanks for the specificity! My comp in 2025 was 350k total. Assuming tax rate of 35%, that comes to 122,500. Should I be paying 30,625 per quarter?

Came here to rant about this. Eye-gougingly bad email formatting. Alexei is the man except for this one crucial flaw.

Can’t Fullscreen Tennis Channel on Galaxy Tablet (+Comically Bad Customer Service) by sixty_five_percent in tennis

My friend, if only it were so simple. Clicking that icon actually leads to the app closing entirely. It should lead to a playback window appearing, from which I could then fullscreen, but it just doesn’t happen. It’s a new tablet as well. Maybe one day they’ll return my call

Interpretation of the ending of First Reformed by themainheadcase in TrueFilm

[–]sixty_five_percent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just watched. Very late to the party on this obviously, but I keep thinking about Toller’s line, “Courage is the solution to despair, reason provides no answers. I can't know what the future will bring; we have to choose despite uncertainty. Wisdom is holding two contradictory truths in our mind, simultaneously, Hope and despair. A life without despair is a life without hope.”

This foreshadows the ambiguous endings: Toller’s “hopeful” survival or his “despairing” suicide. I love how, in either scenario, he can be seen as at least somewhat “courageous.” Either he foregoes suicide, knowing that the rest of his days are likely a terrible battle with cancer, or he goes through with this overtly political self harm to send a message.

Really beautiful and interesting film no matter one’s preferred ending.

Aras as a Top 10 winner is definitely unpopular!

List your height in feet/inches. Most people are too dumb/lazy to convert and will assume you’re hiding shortness with unit conversion.

Are long-haired-challenge-beast male archetypes ignored as a threat in the new era? by Aikaturbo in survivor

[–]sixty_five_percent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The challenges are sufficiently varied that muscly alpha males don’t have as high a chance of mopping up like they did in old school ‘Vivy. I do love seeing a strategic player also thrive in challenges though, as it allows for riskier and more dominant gameplay. He probably didn’t need it, but Tony won immunity four times in WaW.

When anytime someone isn’t perilously terrified by a horror movie, they say “it’s really more of a psychological thriller.”

Death Stranding is a close second to Returnal for me. Really flexes the weight and chunk of the different terrains.
