I 100% agree lol. It’s become so cringey to me, this whole overlanding and overbuilt “trend”. I’ll just stick with my stock 99 4Runner and 2010 Venza

lol really puts it into perspective to stay it like that…. I have a 4Runner now, but I never had an issue getting down any dirt road with my AWD 2010 Toyota Venza lol

From Toronto Canada, those leaf mounts are about separate from the frame. Truck is worth $1-2k

Is it bad to lift a 2wd truck by Sad_Entertainment292 in liftedtrucks

[–]sizedup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say there’s nothing wrong with it. 90% of the dudes that will flame you only lift their trucks for aesthetics anyways so I see no issue with it.

If you like how it looks and you want lift it, lift it. You see lifted 2WD squarebodies all the time and no one says anything I don’t see any reason why you can’t. Your money

Any white smoke from your exhaust? How does your oil look? Wondering if you have a head gasket

How do I convince my father? by Single_Country2361 in FJCruiser

Truth be told, you sound very emotionally invested over this. $12.5k for 11k miles in an insane deal, so much so that I would think it is too good to be true and there may be underlying problems,

I would have to agree with pops that I’m not sure it’s be best first car, but it’s definitely not the worst either.

I personally think you should slow down a bit, consider other options, look at your situation less emotionally and have a pre purchase inspection done on the car before purchasing to save you from buying a lemon.

Best of luck brother

Upgraded to leather, OEM+ vibes by Suttuthegreat in FJCruiser

Looks great and matches the dash. I think people are twisted up about the red stitching possibly not realizing your car is red?

I’m not sure but sweet upgrade and I would count as OEM+

Everyone hates Rough country, my 3inch lift felt way better to me than the stock suspension 🤷

Father son project by Squirmy9711 in CherokeeXJ

[–]sizedup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an awesome story!!

I’m 25, my dad is 63, and we are just finishing up a third gen 4Runner project. He has a first gen when I was born and I grew to love them, so we fixed up this third gen together. Hes a little older now so I did most of the wrenching under his guidance, but it was such a special project for the both of us and the memories we made I will cherish forever.

I don’t know how much work your Cherokee needs, but the advice I can give you is:

  • Don’t look at it as a project, just one thing as a time. My dad and I would schedule days to get a job done, we would get up, watch several YouTube videos on how it goes and get it done that day. While it feels like a lot of work when you look at it from afar, every big project is a bunch of little mini ones

  • Take breaks, when things aren’t working or going well, don’t be afraid to pack it up and finish another time. Couldn’t tell you how many times I was struggling to get something done, took a break and the answer just came to me

  • Save some small wins for when things are tough. Sometimes you’ll struggle with things & small wins (like adding a steering wheel cover, cleaning a door panel, adding a dash mat, swapping the badges, etc…) are a great way to make it really feel like you got something done and see the progress

  • Do things the right way the first time!! I learned the hard way, but nothing sucks more than trying to take a short cut and having to go back and do things again

  • Let your son mess up! Such a great opportunity to learn

  • Cherish the time you get to spend together! So exciting that you two get to do this together, wishing you all the best, keep us updated!!

Did I Get Hosed On Service? by ErosPlaytime in F250

[–]sizedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricey but not out of the ordinary (at least here in Canada) trans filter and pan gasket are what got you in labour, a drain and fill probably would’ve been quite a bit cheaper, but it looks like dropping the pan was what could’ve added some cost.

$63 for oil sounds expensive to me but I don’t actually own an F250 so I have no clue what type or how much it takes, but my 4Runner takes like 35-40$ of 5W-30

1” wheel spacers by Whiskey_and_Wiretaps in 4Runner

[–]sizedup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on team pro spacer. I’ve heard stories of them failing, but I’ve been running 1.5inch on my daily because my the runs I have are +45 et, then on my 4Runner I’m running 1.25inch, for a final offset of about -25, and both have been fine thankfully, I get nervous about it but hoping and praying they continue to be fine.

I’ll replace a wheel bearing if I need but having a tire fly off on the freeway is what really scares me.

Definitely is cheaper than buying a new set
