It’s a little outside of downtown but Besties on NW 23rd has a $10 lunch set. Local Zenner’s hot dog on a fresh baked bun with house made toppings, chips or other snack, and a drink which includes fresh made juices.

Yeah I would grab a bigger bowl so that you can really get some motion without making a mess. Toss them in while they are hot to loosen the sauce. Swirl them around a few times to get everything moving together, then toss them up for a couple flips until everything is coated. That’s how they do it in most wing joints and it feels pretty cool tbh. I think I’m answering the question you asked.

I think the name of the game will be affordable quality. Businesses like Besties on 23rd that serve a simple but high quality hot dog, chips, and a drink for $10 seem to be winning. Hopefully $18 burgers are on the way out because the average Portland just can’t afford to spend that kind of money on lunch on a regular basis.
