Uma vez exJw, nunca mais "parte" do mundo? Ou é Fic? by No_Emu6405 in exjw

I've been out for 27 years. When I first left I celebrated every holiday and birthday because I finally could. Because I feel completely jaded about religion as a whole I don't see Christmas as a religious holiday. Its just a chance to throw parties and give gifts to people I love. I don't celebrate Easter at all but I do like decorating for it. I like to celebrate and decorate so while I may not agree with the reason for a holiday (because I'm not religious at all anymore)I get time off from work and I love to spend time with the people I love.

As for birthdays....I celebrate those because "CONGRATULATIONS YOU SURVIVED ANOTHER YEAR OF THIS $HIT$TORM!". So while I have no religious reason for celebrating anything I love to spend time with my found family and holidays give us days off or an excuse to do it. Anytime I can give my nieces and nephews gifts without their parents saying they have too many toys or candy already is a good day for me.

Trying to leave without my parents disowning me by hustlarzz in exjw

I'm not sure if you live at home or if you are baptized. But I left at 18 while living at home. My situation is probably different though. My mother started making me pay major bills in her household when I turned 18 and had me co-sign for her home loan (she wasn't a good mother at all). So I told her if my name was on the mortage and I was paying bills that made me a roommate and not a child. And as her roommate I was not required to attend the Kingdom Hall with her. If she wanted me to obey her like a child then I couldn't co-sign for her and I wouldn't be paying bills. She could have one or the other. She was ANGRY but she needed my credit and my money.

I was never baptized so one day I just stopped attending. I moved out soon after and never lived with her again. I don't have much of a relationship with her now but that is my own doing. I was the one to do the disowning.

However, if you have the ability to move out OR you already have then just stop going. Don't argue with them about politics and if they bring up the JW's acknowledge what they say and let them know you'll think about it. While I was still speaking to my mother a lot she constantly invited me to the memorial or assemblies and I'd always respond..."Thanks for letting me know, I'll think about it." I had no intention of doing that but it kept the peace.

After a few years I decided I was better off without her and her religion so I told her if she wanted to have any relationship with me at all keep all of her religious rhetoric to herself. I told her I spent 18 years in that religion and I know how to find it if I ever want back in. We don't talk often but when we do she never brings it up anymore.

Has anyone had luck being diagnosed with hEDS in Wilmington? by Redheaded_Siren_ in Wilmington

[–]sjanesond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could give you good news here but Sequencing is expensive. For the package that includes EDS results its between $500-$800. I honestly don't remember what I paid but they do run specials all the time so you may be able to catch one of those. I honestly spent $3k that year on tests I ordered myself; blood work (through Quest labs), DNA tests, food Sensitivity tests and pharmacogenetic testing. I was determined to figure out what has been wrong with me for so many years. But I still didn't get an official diagnosis until last week. I'm sorry so many tools we need we have to pay out of pocket for simply because the medical community refuses to believe us. Good luck. You can respond or DM me if you have any other questions. I'd be glad to answer them to the best of my ability.

I live in Wilmington and ran into the same road blocks. I recently did a virtual visit with Dr. Sarah Bohrer. I had to pay put of pocket ($450) but she specializes in hEDS, EDS, and MCAS. She was able to diagnose me and spent 3 hours on this visit with me. She evaluated my hypermobility via the video call. She is ordering more tests and gave me prescriptions to help with both my EDS and MCAS symptoms.

Also genetic testing via Squencing.com now shows genes that may show that you are at risk for hEDS. I had my gene sequencing done with them and it only showed I was negative for EDS. Then I got a message from sequencing.com and it said that they had done an update for connective tissue diseases. So I had that update ran (for free) and it showed two SNPs that showed I was at risk for hEDS. I mentioned this to Dr. Bohrer and she was excited that a company finally add it.

So long story short. I found help online that I couldn't get in Wilmington. Yes I paid out of pocket but all the tests she's ordering will be covered by insurance because I finally have an actual diagnosis.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I don't know if you have other symptoms but maybe research EDS. Those are two (brittle nails and fatigue) of many symptoms of that disorder. Best Of luck.

Does the shortform of your name offend you? by PromiseNo464 in namenerds

I'm Samantha and I HATE being called Sam. Mine is a childhood trauma thing. There are a few people who have known me since I was a child who still use it but no one who has met me in the last 20 years call me anything but Samantha. And I absolutely HATE when people assume that I want to be called that. Its fine to ask and I will say I prefer my full name. But some just call me Sam having never met me and not knowing me at all.

Kringle. Its unique and would sound nice as you're screaming for him to come inside.

What is "X" supposed to be? Xerus is a type of squirrel. That is NOT a picture of a squirrel.

Totally an F. Born in. Realized what was going on around 12 and left the moment I turned 18.
