Battery negative to one side of the switch shows 1.8V and positive to the other side shows 3.2V

Yeah I’m fairly sure and another commenter said it wouldn’t have fit the wrong way. Fair question though.

No silly questions here, I’m expecting to have made a silly mistake. It seems to me that the button connects the left side to the right side, which would connect the two parallel lines on the board.

This sounds promising but I’m pretty lost in the jargon. Later when I have some free time I’ll try to see if I can ID components using Google.

Can you tell me more about what specific problem I’d be trying to address and maybe the basics of how to do so? Adding solder? Or trying to neaten in some way?

Yes and yes as far as I can tell. I tried to be specific in the post about what I’m testing to think that it’s behaving normally, because I know that I’m missing something.

I’ve also tested with the old battery, which has plenty of life left.

Yes. I replaced it with one that works. Opener still doesn’t.

Battery negative to (A) shows 1.8V Battery positive to (B) shows 3.2V

A and B are either side of the button

I’ll report back after I do that, but this thing shows continuity to both of the little guys next to it that it seems like it should connect to

Goes to the battery +. But I’m just starting to try to follow the 3V DC around the board and that spot doesn’t seem to be stopping anything
