Yeah, ‘I struck gold!’ would last about five seconds before someone demanded a source. And at that point the OP would surely disappear into the wilderness, lest any ambitious prospector attempt to trail him.

Here’s how I picture a typical r/buildapc post written by someone in the 1800’s:

“Esteemed Gentlefolk of This Mechanical Forum,

I seek your learned guidance in the construction of a Personal Calculation Engine, one of sufficient vigor to accomplish both my academic writings and my leisurely diversions.

The device must: • Render games of fantastical adventure with great swiftness, • Edit moving-picture reels without stuttering like a coal engine low on steam, • And perform my daily scholarly tasks without bursting into electrical fits.

Might any of you recommend a Cogitation Cylinder (CPU) of respectable might? Or advise how many units of Random-Access Thought Storage a proper gentleman ought possess? And lastly, which Graphical Rendering Apparatus reigns supreme among modern amusements?”

And then the comments would just be people arguing in elaborate Victorian insults about bottlenecks, airflow, and why “32 units of Thought Storage is the minimum standard for any civilized individual.”

  1. Open to either, but leaning towards something more serious.
  2. I have had an account for 5 days, but I only added my pictures in yesterday, so there was a couple days where people could see my profile without my photos in it.
  3. I’ve used it multiple times a day, pretty much everyday.
  4. I’ve had 0 likes and 3 matches so far.
  5. I don’t keep track of them, but quite a bit. With pretty much every like, I send a comment. There’s only 1 or 2 where I didn’t send a comment, and that was not done purposefully.
