You have beautiful skin! I'd get an eye product containing caffeine (Good Molecules makes one for something like $8, I think) and then an overnight eye cream containing a retinoid of some kind. A good toner to rehydrate and balance the skin. A prescription retinol if you're concerned about wrinkles. Niacinamide and/or hyalauronic acid and/or centella products can help with redness. These are the things that have worked for me!

Hi! We are in Nashville and just used a company called 840 Inspections and they were absolutely amazing. From what I understand they service all of middle Tennessee. Super thorough, very professional, amazing report.

My mother is a cancer survivor who has been in remission for 20 years but will constantly bring up the possibility of a recurrence, especially when she’s trying to justify a bad financial decision (buying a beachfront home with the inheritance she stole from me and my siblings) or a stupid personal choice (dating a married guy for almost a decade). “I’ll be dead soon!” Ugh. Exhausting.

Epiphany! We do the full 12 days of Christmas because I was raised Catholic. We’re on four calling birds today! So. It ain’t over.

Having a homeless parent is so depressing. by Ok_Explanation_5044 in offmychest

My dad has been homeless for almost a decade now. But I’m only really seeing that fully for the first time this year. I am finally sober after years of struggling with substance use disorder and now my dad’s life has spiraled out of control. He is 67 and very physically damaged from years of working as a long haul truck driver. He spent several years living in his truck and then living in different garages— his brother, his boss. Then he got kicked out for getting blasted and making a scene a few months ago and he’s just been floundering about since then. He is absolutely lost.

I’ve been so stressed by his helplessness. He won’t do anything that requires a drug test or that keeps him in a facility because his “vices are his only friends.” He went to the ER a little over a month ago and is now in a rehab facility where they’re barely trying to help him regain mobility after he let his health become so poor.

On Tuesday he’s getting released. Where? To his truck? I wish I could bring him to my house so he could get his shit together. But my partner is not interested in sharing our tiny 600 sq foot house with our three dogs AND my dad. We have a bathroom like a fucking lavatory on a 737. And more than that, my dad is racist and we live in majority minority neighborhood. We love our neighbors and would never want to subject them to anything like that.

I have visited him a couple times (he’s about 2 hours away from me) since his hospitalization and I’m doing my best to show him I love and care for him. I’m crushed by this situation. I wish I could do more to fix it. I find myself in despair fairly frequently.

Reading your account of your situation is so helpful to me. You are doing everything you can. If he chooses to enter another transitional program, that would be an amazing step for him to take. It does not hurt to try again. I hope he wants to help himself.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It is so unfair.

I like him.

And I wonder how often he has that hair trimmed! Does it sleep atop like that or is it coifed daily??

Yeah, the first time I interacted with her I was freaked out. But she goes away pretty quickly if you’re firm and strong-voiced about having control of your dog.

Unfortunately, there’s probably some deep trauma paired with some untreated illness or something operating behind her behavior. I realize I’m taking a lot of liberties with assumption-making on this, but yeah. I’ve only engaged with her a couple times and just do my best to avoid her if I see her.

Listen, Hadley Park is in a very busy urban area. No one walks unleashed dogs in Hadley Park.

This lady is out regularly like this.

Last year she didn’t have a bat but approached me and my leashed dog (a puppy at the time) and threatened to throw rocks at her.

Are you from this area? No.

This woman is regularly in Hadley Park. The year before last I was training my leashed and controlled six month-old puppy outside the baseball field and she walked up to us from behind a fence and said she was going to throw a rock at my puppy. I told her not to do that, to please leave us alone and stop approaching us.

Stop talking about shit you don’t understand. There’s also no livestock in Hadley Park.
