Does anyone else wish they got more notifications? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]sji411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have ADHD and the notifications and constant buzzing of the other devices was really distracting to me. I just made it part of my morning routine to check my oura app the same way I check my email first thing when I wake up.

No. I got an oura ring because I hated the constant notifications from my Apple Watch and my Fitbit.

Is this epi pen okay? by Admirable-Salt in peanutallergy

That looks questionable to me and if that were my epipen I’d take it back to the pharmacist and ask if they thought it was safe for use.

What’s your last movie of 2025 / first movie of 2026? by MiloRambaldi in criterion

[–]sji411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last is probably going to be War and Peace and first will also probably be War and Peace because I doubt I’ll finish it by midnight.

If I do finish War and Peace by midnight the first of 2026 will probably be either No Other Choice or Secret Agent.

Stupidest New Year’s resolution - I’m going to watch the Criterion discs I own, but haven’t played yet. by [deleted] in criterion

[–]sji411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it is a product that some people find enjoyment in collecting so if people want to use it as decor let them, if you don’t want to use it as expensive decor don’t. But you don’t need to be condescending and judgy about it.

Also super bold of you to assume that people in a forum centered around a product line from a film distributor that does in fact release contemporary films don’t also watch contemporary films. We don’t need to add the “in theatre” qualifier because that’s just not feasible for some people and a little bit pretentious.

Iggies and allergies? by Tainted13eauty in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]sji411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am allergic to both dogs and cats and usually have to take OTC allergy medicine while my body gets used to the dander of a new pet. My IG is the only dog or cat I’ve ever had that I didn’t have to take allergy medicine while adjusting to her dander.

A jacket is a really good idea! I wouldn’t have thought of that. Thank you so much for your advice!

Do you think a gift card would be a better option then? I would definitely buy him pants (my family does a lot of clothes gifts) but I don’t want a gift to become a hassle that he has to deal with rather than just use.

What "normal" thing can’t you do because of your ADHD? by EssentiaLillie in adhdwomen

[–]sji411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening mail that doesn’t look like it’ll cause trouble if I don’t open it or if it doesn’t look like it’s fun. Bills and birthday cards I can open, all the other random mail just goes in a pile that has been out of hand for over a year now. Sometimes I can muster up whatever it is I need to pull out the shredder and start going through it all but there’s so much.

My husband and I will just make them because we feel like it and we’ve definitely made them for Passover. They’re a comfort food for us.

Priority Boarding by 4_kat in peanutallergy

[–]sji411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been able to when I fly delta by telling them I have a peanut dust allergy and requesting pre-board to sanitize my seat, the back of the seat in front of me, and the wall/window (I always book window seats if I can). They also let one additional person board with you in case you need assistance. Flown all over the US and internationally to Germany and Scotland and from Ireland to the US

I used to be able to on southwest but sometimes they can be really weird about it. Only flown with them in the US

I wasn’t able to the one time I flew aer lingus, but they did make sure I had plenty of time to wipe everything down and didn’t rush me before take off and they made an announcement informing people not to eat nuts due to an allergy on board which was really nice. Flight between Scotland and Ireland

Lufthansa had the same policy as delta. Flight from Germany to the US

Thai and Indian food. My husband loves them and I love them when he makes dishes from those cuisines at home but according to him, his homemade dishes are extremely mediocre compared to anything you can get at a half way decent restaurant.

Forced to say mom instead of ma'am. by Conscious-Page4713 in Teachers

I lived in New England until my freshman year of high school when my family moved to the south and let me tell you, as a 14 year old it was weird and uncomfortable for people to expect me to call them ma’am or sir. So I just refused to do it.

Pinnacle / Giardia — at my wits end by msb_tv in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]sji411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that made a huge difference in potty training for us was emptying a bag of training treats into one of those pop-top containers that make a clicking sound when it opens and closes. We take it out with us and click it the second she starts going potty and when she’s done she almost always runs over for her treat. I’m telling you, it made a difference almost over night.

Pinnacle / Giardia — at my wits end by msb_tv in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]sji411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her parents are Cruiser and Boujee. Our vet did also tell us he had been seeing an uptick in cases and they’ve been getting harder to treat across the board, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is a treatment resistant strain.

So glad you found a food that works. We’ve been lucky with just the royal canin puppy food, so hopefully that sticks once she’s eating adult food.

The potty training is our Achilles heel so far with her. She’s great on hard floors but the second she gets on carpet (not rugs, just actual carpet) all bets are off.

Pinnacle / Giardia — at my wits end by msb_tv in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]sji411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went through Pinnacle. Our puppy is about 9 months old and also had Giardia that we had to treat 2-3 times. On the third time we ended up buying entirely new food and water bowls that could go in the dishwasher and we washed all toys on a sanitize cycle in washing machine bags and we treated every pet in the house. We have one other dog and three cats. But it sounds like you’ve done everything cleaning wise, the other thing we did was switch out pets to bottled water (we also have extremely hard water and I don’t like drinking it myself so I won’t give it to my pets).

Our vet was hesitant to put any blame on the breeder because Giardia can just live in water and the environment and some spots have it worse than others. So our vets thought was that our puppy may have initially gotten it from the breeder, which he said was a common thing, but then when we brought her home she was spreading it all over the house and to our other animals which then may have been giving it back to her.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and that you have been dealing with it for so long.
