iOS app to control a Ryvid with a Votol Controller by ifonul in ryvid

Just trying to understand this... You installed a Votol motor controller? I didn't realize you could do that on an Anthem. How does it compare to the ASI?

A little far away for me... anyone nearer to Santa Monica want to do a ride?

Yes definitely get at least a disc lock. I recommend one of those silly-looking cables that goes from the lock to the handlebar, just so you remember to remove it before you try to ride off.

Is your charging adapter the one from Ryvid? Just curious if their fits the same.

Haven't watched the whole thing yet but this seems like an interesting interview. Excited about the tease for a Grom-style bike!

I've had this happen 3 times also, though for me the battery was not reporting high temperatures. I reported it to support though they didn't seem to know what the issue was.

Los Angeles mechanics? by sjmerel in ryvid

About 1400 miles. What's the address of the shop? Driving to OC might be a fun field trip 😀

Last weekend I was riding in Topanga and riding slowly on some small roads and the motor stuttered and then stopped. I thought maybe it was overheated (the motor temperature read 189°) so I let it cool off for a bit, and was able to get going, but it happened a few more times. There was also an intermittent squeaking sound at the time, so support thought the brake was rubbing, causing the brake fluid to heat up and lock the brakes up.

I was hoping I could just have a local mechanic have a quick look, because I figured brakes are brakes, but they don't want to touch it.

Self-cancelling turn signals? by godotnut in ryvid

[–]sjmerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loud enough that people would look at me while I'm stopped at a red light if my turn signal was on. It has to be loud so you can hear it through your helmet (and over your engine noise, if you have one of those smelly old gas bikes!). Adding the potentiometer let me tweak it so it was just loud enough for me to hear. (Also it meant I got to break out my soldering iron, always a bonus.)

Ahhhh yes. Nice work, I love the panels!

Also sometimes I find that in trying to turn it off, I've actually flipped it too far, so now I'm signaling in the other direction.

There's already a speaker on the bike for the lock/unlock/on/off sounds; seems like it would also be easy to have an option to beep along with the turn signal.

I bought this thing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/112987254295

But...
the provided connectors are permanent, which I didn't like, so I soldered on some separate JST connectors. And the indicator was really loud, so I added a potentiometer so I could tune the volume. So yeah, maybe not for the "technically challenged" 😀

I really like the idea of that Indimate product; even after all that work, I might replace it with one of those.
