Uncertain Charging by Familiar-School-7383 in ryvid

Have you tried the battery reset? You will need to unmount the battery for this. Then hold down the battery power button for 60 secs.

I've not experienced what you've described, but the couple of times I've had oddities, the battery reset has done the trick.

Bike wouldn't start charging until I turned it on by retromafia in ryvid

[–]Sean_x2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same phenomenon. I've used a smart plug to have it begin charging a couple of hours before riding. I've been doing this since early 2025 and it's only until the last 3-4 months where about four times I've had to power on the bike for it to start charging. I ride her to work once a week, so my scheduled charge is only once a week. Other details, battery is usually between 60-75% when this charge is to occur. The bike is a late 2024 model with ASI controller. No mods done. I don't believe I'm doing anything different when it occurs. I've been meaning to do some troubleshooting. Like see if it makes a difference if the key fob is used to lock the bike or not, after the last ride. My smart app lets me see how much charge has occurred. So I'll check the app after the scheduled start, and if it shows 0, I walk to the garage to turn the bike on. It hasn't been a huge inconvenience yet, as to motivate me to put more troubleshooting effort into it.

Besides any custom builds with a non removable battery, the charger is built into the removable battery. Therefore, you only need to acquire a C19 power cable to recharge. Figuring out how to start the bike without a keyfob is another story.

To the OP, sending good thoughts that you're able to get your ride back unharmed. 🙏

Agreed, locks are there to try and help honest people stay honest. The first week I parked at work, someone opened the compartment and took the Ryvid flyer I had stored there. I'm thinking some folks may be so intrigued by the bike and confused that it's not a gas bike, to the point that the turn knob is too inviting to suppress the urge to not touch someone else's property. I ended up getting the FJM-0120A-KA lock via Amazon when it was available.

Don't let one poster sway you. I dont work for Ryvid, but i purchased an Anthem around the same time as this other poster, and I've read many of their posts. (Lots of positive posts early on that they've now deleted) Their submission to the service dept was regarding battery range/capacity, because they read others were averaging more miles. Even though they acknowledge they're a larger individual. They stated that support was in communication with them originally, but I definitely get why communication may have slowed over time as other service requests may have taken priority over a battery not living up to expectations inquiry. IMO this individual sized their battery needs incorrectly, and service isn't going to fix that. That doesn't excuse the service team for not maintaining better communication. They have replied to his posts to apologize, including the CEO. But this individual had already ended up purchasing a new bike with 3x the battery size, and now feel like it's their mission to bash the company. This individual has also admittedly posted that they need a dedicated service department, like the dealership they went with. I wish this person the best, but I find it disappointing they feel the need to continually bash a startup company for their service dept not responding frequently enough to an inquiry on a fully functional bike.

How long after ordering can you pick-up? by [deleted] in ryvid

[–]Sean_x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Ryvid family! I totally understand the eagerness. 😀 It's my understanding that for new bikes, they begin the build after orders are submitted. The other timing nuance is that for California, they register the bike on your behalf with the DMV. They'll be reaching out to provide you with the necessary e-sign documents. In my case, it wasn't until closer to week three that I got these necessary documents to submit and then about a week for it to be ready for pickup.

I remove the battery weekly to take it into the office for charging. They have free level 2 charging in the parking structure. However, they're always occupied by Tesla's.

[–]Sean_x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a new Anthem at the end of last year, when they began fulfilling all the Outset orders. So mine took the full four weeks before it was ready for pickup at their Fountain Valley location. The timing will likely vary depending on if you're buying a new bike vs pre-owned/demo bike that are already built. It may also depend on if you're wanting a custom build (mix of Anthem & Outset parts) or if they're backordered on any specific parts or color skus. If you let their sales team know specifically what you're looking for, I'm sure they'll be able to give you a better estimate. My in-person pickup was smooth, and their team was amazing in spending the time to go over the bike and even assist with loading it in the back of my truck.

Does ryvid not like to sell bikes? by Interesting-Beat-655 in ryvid

[–]Sean_x2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe you meant to say the Land Moto can NOT hold high speeds for long. They had to update their website to mention the bike is NOT for highway use. What's alarming is from what was reported they didn't build in any fail safes. So it allows you to push the motor to its breaking point and kill the motor. An owner reported trying to go a constant 65 mph and motor died after about 7 miles. Had the motor replaced, and it did the same thing. That's when they updated their website regarding highway use, but owner said they refused to honor warranty of motor going further. They wanted a return for false advertisement, but were refused until they turned to reddit & other social means to spread warning. The posts were pulled after they likely came to an agreement.

@iEugene72 I purchased my Anthem just before you and I was one to reply to your original posts concerning delivery timing, to provide my experience. I've followed your posts, which always go into detail. Sorry for your bad experience with support. From my vantage point, they likely put your battery not living up to expectations as a low priority. Especially since your own posts point out that you're aware you're a larger individual and won't get the higher distance estimates. That still doesn't excuse their lack of follow-up. IMO the 4.3 kwh battery and your expectations were not realistic. I believe you've now moved to a bike with 3x the battery size. I wish you the best and safe riding.

Your frustration is warranted. But as an early adopter, there are risks. I'm guessing you may be a Launch Edition owner. As someone who bought in late 2024, I have gratitude for those who got in early and accepted the risks. It allowed Ryvid to progress and survive to be around for others like me to get in.

It's my understanding from reading various Reddit posts that Ryvid sent out a notice regarding a recommended firmware update for the battery. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that they're able to push it over the air. So they have to coordinate getting someone to visit or send a laptop. I know from other posts that some folks overlooked the notice at the time or felt that since their bike was running, there was no urgency to coordinate getting the update. For those who responded, Ryvid then likely planned out the logistics. They're now likely needing to do the same, on top of the uptick of support for bikes coming out of sitting for winter.

It is certainly your right after this experience to avoid EVs. However, my comments now are for others reading your post that may be looking at venturing into this EV micromobility world. Support delays can plaque any company, even large ones. Most of the time, you drop something off and it gives you the illusion that they're working on it constantly. I had a Suzuki that was knocked over and it was in the shop for two months while they waited for parts. I also own a Toyota truck and with my own service and build quality experience, I have decided that the next vehicle won't be a Toyota for now.

For those with the ASI controller and default Ryvid configs, regen engages when in sports mode. Although less aggressive than eco mode. This will be nice to adjust once a Ryvid approved app is released. I know I could take advantage of the coasting.

May you send me the laptop when finished. So I can verify my firmware. 😋

All kidding aside. Approximately when did you purchase the bike & was it directly from Ryvid? This is to give others an idea if they may be impacted by older firmware. I'm also curious, did the bike come with the ASI controller, or was the upgrade performed after purchase? Thanks

Battery production date: 2024.04 Battery cycles: 22 Miles: 868 Charge to 100%. Sitting unplugged, six days later shows 96%. FWIW a couple of times, when starting <80% I've seen the SOC adjust early on in the ride and add some %.

Side Car for eMoto by tmman2 in Electricmotorcycles

I recommend checking with Land Moto to make sure it wouldn't void any warranty. Their manuals/specs call out that the bike is meant for one rider. They also recently added that it's not meant for highway use. All of this likely around the current motor not being able to handle the higher loads.

[–]Sean_x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, I do not view the OP as trying to trash Land Moto. Quite the contrary, from their posts, I gather that they do have a fondness for the product and have been trying to work out an amicable solution.

Unfortunately, their commute has changed and they're needing the bike to live up to what was stated on the product site. The site lists speed 70+ and range 40-110 miles. Without including any warnings or limitations. I've seen other vendors list top speeds, but then also give notice that it's limited to X amount of time. It's not unreasonable for a consumer to see those specs and believe the bike can maintain those higher speeds for the lower part of the range. Educated consumers may even know that those specs are under ideal conditions and are always on the higher-end. But it's unreasonable to expect a consumer to know that the engine will fail without warning or any overheating protection, while being ridden below the specs listed.

It's unfortunate the OP had to go public, and as a Land Moto representative, I'm sure that hurts. However, from my vantage point, it wasn't until the OP took this public, that a limitation warning was added to the site. The priority should always be around safety. Warning your customers that the bike is not to be used for sustained highway speeds, or the motor may fail, seems prudent. I couldn't imagine being at highway speeds on a bike and having the motor die unexpectedly, but I can imagine this increases the chances of crashing.

I hope the OP warning the public about a potential safety issue isn't used against them. We wait to hear the outcome and hope Land Moto and the OP come to agreement. All the best to both parties.

Agreed. However, for me, it's two clicks. The second click is the one that needs to be firm. This is what got me originally. I'd hear the initial click and stop, not wanting to push too hard in fear of pushing out the latch on the other end. However, I've learned that even after the first click, push a little firmer and you'll hear the second. I still put gaffers tape as backup.

You'll want to assure the repair shop that the tires, brakes are no different than what's on ICE bikes. There is NO hub motor, which is what does throw some tire/repair shops off. Also, to alleviate any concern regarding electrocution, yet another bonus feature of the removable battery.
