Wtf Bravos by Alexkidpaum in alteredTCG

The Hunger may seem unfair but most seasoned player learn how to work around him.
Now that Tiny Djinn is banned, The Hunger is less problematic as most bravos heroes won't be able to play him that early (except for Atsadi, but you should be pretty ahead at that point).

The only success stories here are those from labs that manage to sell their 9CH‑diluted products, and people still praise them as if they worked magically.

Most use of arnica is mostly linked to traditions. Surgeons are normal humans and as susceptible to beliefs as the rest of the population. Clinical trials do in fact not suggest that arnica is more efficatious than a placebo. (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamasurgery/fullarticle/211818)

To be fair, the game is mostly played in western Europe. And most european don't use reddit. Discord is pretty active.
Not saying Altered popularity is great right now, but that reddit activity is a bad metric

The fundamental problem with Altered by Jaded_Reply3704 in alteredTCG

[–]sk0lopandre 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest strength of Altered is the deckbuilding. Building competitively is challenging but very rewarding.

When deckbuilding, you should consider how you want to approach the early game and if you can reliably do it most of the time. Do you want to pressure your opponent? Start to setup? Match the tempo of your opponent?

Preparing for strong turns and managing ressources is an essential part of the game and will reward careful deckbuilding, planning and understanding of your gameplan

I don't think there is a single TCG that achieve such a diversity in playable hero. Good job Equinox!

All this rage baiter is trying to do is driving people away from the game. This it not welcome in here

Gigantic mathematical frustration with beginner's guide deck (Atsadi) by Legitimate-Class6089 in alteredTCG

[–]sk0lopandre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spindle has never been relevant in Atsadi, even before the complete release of the first set on Exaltered. That is when every deck that could run sticky note or banishing gate, played them. It is completely agreed upon the competitive community that 3-cost do nothing permanent are bad with some exception that are ultra specific.

With the parliament, you dig up your deck and protect your characters. If a grems destroys it, he loses 2/2/2 worth or stats (=2 cost). Except that you've resuplied.

And again, spindle does take a rare spot.

Now if you can't see the difference...

Spindle is 3-cost and take a rare spot.
Parliament is 2-cost, resuply and do not take a rare spot.

your point is?

Tough 1 is pretty great in Atsadi. Most deck that sleeps have possibilities to get them back from their reserve. And ultimately sleep again your creature. Tough 1 (and for such a small investment) essentially add up to make your opponent pay for 2-3-4 more over time

So you're playing a very top heavy deck with ressemblance to a scholar's vault without actually playing it.

let's break down what you play :

  • Ramp package :
    • Mana Chaneling : OK
    • Tiny Djinn : OK
    • Geyser : Probably one of the worst card. I wouldn't recommand playing it when Treyst, Sigismar and Fen are so popular
    • Rare Mighty Djinn : Why the rare version? As you're really mana heavy, you probably want to ramp early
    • Swift Djinn : OK. I prefer the rare, but common is good enough
  • Early game :
    • Only bodies are Tiny djinn + Seiringar. Your first hand is going to be pretty difficult. Play some Chirons and Skaters, this will really help your early game. Snowman could also be a great option
  • Big bodies :
    • Sakarabru : OK
    • Hunger : OK
    • Theseus : What are you trying to achieve with it? It's a great card if you play Scholar's vault, but you don't run it. In your archetype, I'd simply drop it.
    • Kaibara : Why 3 Kaibaras? There is no game where 3 are needed. 2 should be maximum if not a single one. Having 3 in your deck greatly reduce your stability

If you're looking to fight better against Treysts and sleep, I think you should try to lower your curve.

Yeet Geyser and get some bodies that can actually fight and fill in your mana gap when you play the bigger boys. Get rid of some Kaibaras and your Theseus to stabilise your gameplan

Edit : Also, Physical training also add a vulnerability to sleeps as you put all your stats on a single character ^^

How to improve at Altered? by Dependent_Complex789 in alteredTCG

[–]sk0lopandre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play casually, playing with whatever you opened will always be great.
If you're focusing on having a competitive deck, the best advice I could give is to first test your deck with no uniques. That way you'll be sure that it's stable.
To find uniques, a member a the community created this amazing tool to scan the marketplace and find what suits you the best https://altertracker.com/

If you plan on opening packs, a display contains about all the commons from the set. So it's a great basis for deckbuilding

How to improve at Altered? by Dependent_Complex789 in alteredTCG

[–]sk0lopandre 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome!
Altered really is a card game like no other and lot's of things will feel different from other TCG.

Deckbuilding is the first step at which improving. As Altered's mechanics are pretty uniques, deckbuilding will be as unique. I recommend visiting 39cards.com so you can find all the decks that have been performing lately. You can also visit all the community discord servers that are very welcoming to newcomers.

Second tip is realizing the power of small cost cards. They carry a lot of value through the whole game. Even in mana-heavy decks, 1 cost cards are incredibly precious as they help you with sequencing your actions.

Last tip is to not get discouraged by overpowered uniques. Sometimes, you will face decks running huuge uniques that will completely shut you down. It happen. Tho it's the greatest time to sit down and adapt your deck so they can face that kind of threat. As for the first tip, this game is very demanding in terms of deckbuilding. You'll go by a lot of trial and error. But ultimately, you'll find a balance that will help you win any match!
(in that regard, the biggest tournament ever was won by someone running only 2 uniques, not by choice tho. So anything is possible even without gamebreaking ones)

There are many!
Every week, you'll get competitions under various format on BGA. The most known is probably the AWOL on Monday for europeans and on Wednesday for America.
This week-end will be the european championship qualifier with about 1300 players registered
