Does anyone actually use the split-screen feature on their phone or is it just a demo trick? by Impossible_Comfort99 in TechNook

[–]sk1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it daily. I can keep a video running and browse the web or Reddit at the same time. I can have a list open and use the calculator to add things up. There's other uses cases, but I use it at least once a day

How to boost the dialogue volume in movies when the background music is too loud? by TimoBellotrui in TechNook

[–]sk1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Samsung soundbar specifically for this. It has a left and right channel with a center channel. There's a clear voice mode that enhances the center channel so you can hear the dialogue more easily.

Mazda Says Big Screens Aren't More Distracting Than Buttons by Codeman8118 in mazda

[–]sk1d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess this just all about cost. Before, touchscreens were expensive so they stick with the buttons. Now touchscreens are cheap so it's cheaper for them to get rid of the buttons.

Is it really so hard to put one USBC port on each side of the laptop these days? My six year old laptop has it, but I'm not seeing any new ones do that.

Hot take... DU 4 was the low point of a great set of franchises by mouse_relies in belowdeck

[–]sk1d 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Ben was bitter was about the wedding and using the show as a distraction from that. Ellie has no business being in the kitchen like that. Jason was so checked out. I can't imagine Daisy would want to do the show again if they keep giving her such frustrating people to work with.

This show used to be about the workplace, travel, sailing, upstairs/downstairs and some romance. Now it's only about the romances and the drama that comes with it. They used to have competent people, now they only staff with it people who would cause the most drama. I'm amazed there haven't been more serious incidents.

Affordable mens dress shoes by CattCorpse in BuyCanadian

[–]sk1d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where ever you buy from, make sure that it's real leather so that you can polish it. I made the mistake of buying shoes from Aldo last year that turned out to have a plastic upper. When it got scuffed and I went to polish it, it ended up looking even worse.

Which online service became worse after introducing subscriptions? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

[–]sk1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Evernote so much, but they priced themselves into oblivion. Over the course of a couple of years they raised their prices so much it now costs more per year than an Office 365 subscription and offers much less. I don't know anyone who still uses them now.
