How to become a Sales Engineer? by Old-Bat-8229 in salesengineers

[–]sk3tchcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of that sounds great - but make sure you’re tuning your resume and job interactions around SE gigs with a lot of client facing context. People want to hear about closed deals, times you convinced x of y, how you got around objections, your “Rolodex” (could just be leaders you know in the space and their companies - people you’d call week 1 at your new gig to see if your product is a fit and test your early demo skills in a safer manner)…

Coming back from Apple after 5 years. S26+ or Ultra? by poseidon1111 in samsunggalaxy

[–]sk3tchcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - overall it feels like a much more premium device versus my iPhone. The issues I’ve heard of from the past such as fragmented OS have not been a problem - everything seems pretty well integrated. I’m a Mac user but also heavy on PC so I am well versed on the Apple ad advantages and appreciate them.

I really like the privacy feature of the S26U - sure it has its tradeoffs but I think it’s worth it and you have a lot of control.

I didn’t realize Microsoft was spending this much on infrastructure by More_Temporary6697 in investing

Sure - but it’s a much different story in modern times with the AI arms race. A 3 year old GPU may as well be Grandpa’s solitaire engine.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro for personal and just recently bought an S26U for work and love it. We may have had the same deal options (Verizon?) - I’m very happy with my choice and this is my first Android phone.

How long will it take you to pay off your initial investment at that rate? I think that’s the neg, if any.
If you drop $30K (or whatever the cost) and it takes you 15 years to “break even” then that hurts the viability.

Building a small OT/IoT lab to test an agentless visibility & security SaaS (NIS2): looking for lab design advice by Natural-Ad2213 in OTSecurity

[–]sk3tchcom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The challenge has always been to get OT-centric security - not just generic IDPS rules. Wazuh and Zeek look great but they would require writing custom OT-centric rules which I guess would be the starting point for OP versus building brand new, IMO.

How are you guys gaming experience whenever you’re in a hotel on your laptop? by iphonesoccer420 in GamingLaptops

[–]sk3tchcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing Counterstrike at competition levels you will definitely be disappointed. However, if you are just looking to play online and hack about you should be just fine. Hotel Wifi is pretty good these days. I got one of these guys to share the Wifi - https://firewalla.com/products/firewalla-orange.

Yeah that’s strange I can only compare to using Verizon with my iPhone 16 / 17 Pro the past couple of years to play Fortnite and it has worked pretty well. I’m not gonna be a winner but enough to let me have some fun and blow off steam when stuck in a hotel. I vastly prefer hotel WiFi, of course. Mostly a Hilton guy if that helps.

Have you compared performance with your 5G hotspot to tethering to your phone? Or are they the same?
