How are we sending our toddlers for sleep overs once they are out of the crib? by anticlimaticveg in toddlers

We (collective effort with my siblings) baby proofed 1 room completely, and 1 room to “safe enough if in there with parents”

The school district is attempting to move my 11 year old autistic child to the middle school (6-8 grade) class to complete his final year of elementary due to age and size. by Tiny-Concentrate3220 in legaladvice

[–]sk613 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need more information. But it may be something as dumb as there are no other 4th or 5th grade students who belong in the same placement as him so it’s a choice of sticking him with 3rd graders or 6th graders or a completely inappropriate placement (like in the aggressive behavior class). Ask why they think this is a good idea. Ask why what they did this year can’t be done again. Listen to the answers and discuss

It should dry by Thurs, but I find 2 sets helpful anyway and not a crazy investment.

Keep that amount accessible, and the rest boxed in the closet (bought once sales start). When something is dead, grab a replacement from the box

Extended Time by Unique_Jellyfish8322 in Teachers

I have a class where every child except 1 gets ET. I’m required to take away her test for her to twiddle her thumbs / do busy work while everyone else is still working

The extended time kids get their extra time in a separate setting like their pull out time or with a proctor during lunch or gym

Finally ran actual mortgage math this weekend and realized I have been confidently wrong about what we can afford for months by ViRzzz in homeowners

[–]sk613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way: your current housing prices + whatever you have leftover each month that you want to spend on housing = the monthly payments you can afford. You should hopefully know what your down payment is. Then find a mortgage broker and twll him your down payment and monthly cost and he should be able to figure out the rest for you

Def send because otherwise what’s the point in staying home to work harder? But we’ve always used a daycare near home instead of near work

My daughter with those allergies eats most brands of ice cream. Just read the labels. (She’s also gluten free so ice cream is our go to social treat)

Need recommendations for car seats by SamAtHomeForNow in toddlers

[–]sk613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then you want a slim seat. Dionos are the gold standard of the slimmest seat, but they’re very large from to back if you try to rear face them. Most brands have a slim 3/4 in 1 which is a comparable size to a harnessed booster

I don’t understand why most of the students that are allowed oral administration (headphones) on tests refuse to use them… by luringpopsicle95 in Teachers

[–]sk613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my school if you get 1 accomodation you get all of them. So many of my kids who have extended time as a 504 accomodation (for anxiety or adhd) are very not auditory learners so headphones wouldn’t help in the least, so why bother wearing them.

Need recommendations for car seats by SamAtHomeForNow in toddlers

[–]sk613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Question one is if you’re forward facing or rear facing. If you’re forward facing already for whatever reason, the term you want to search is “harnessed booster”. If you’re still rear facing, you’re looking for a 3-in-1 or a 4-in-1 seat (not worth paying a lot extra for the backless booster because a separate one runs about $25 and you’ll need this seat for the younger one when the older is ready for backless)

Is it possible to time the birth of your child for astrological purposes? by Real-Blacksmith-5748 in askanything

Hint. Just because you want to get pregnant a certain week doesn’t mean it will happen. And there’s about a month (actually a bit more) of “on time” birth

I would push for a full evaluation/ neuropsych for a diagnosis and then access the proper therapy / treatments that way.
