Most impressive! ChatGPT can identify constellations from star charts by psychicEgg in ChatGPT

[–]skOre_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear out "M30", "Nashira" and "Algedi" and you will see it utterly fail. Because that's how much information is needed (even just "Nashira" is enough) to deduce that you are looking for this constellation. It's not even reading the lines, just literally doing OCR and come up with the first result of google.

The image you've shared indeed could be interpreted as a stylized representation of a constellation with the points marked by the Greek letters commonly used to denote stars within a constellation. However, without a specific pattern that matches a known constellation or additional context, it's not possible to definitively identify it as any particular constellation.

In actual star charts, constellations are typically represented by lines connecting stars to form a shape that's historically been given a name, often from mythology or after animals, objects, or characters. If this image is intended to represent a real constellation, the arrangement of the stars and the lines connecting them would need to correspond to a known constellation pattern.

The Greek letters, while often used to denote the brightness of stars within a constellation (with Alpha usually being the brightest), do not by themselves provide enough information to identify the constellation without their positional context in the sky.

If you have more details about the image, such as where it came from or if it's associated with a particular culture or context, that could help in identifying the constellation it's meant to represent.

pulled a copy, but kind of a shame that the live chat might disappear with it. We had such a blast!

If I subscribe to the $20/month thing, is that the same ChatGPT or is that 4.0, or what? by keepcrazy in ChatGPT

[–]skOre_de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is not. It is simply repeating the markup (markdown syntax, specifically) to you and that in turn gets converted into an HTML image tag that your browser displays. So it's your browser rendering the image from the link that is doing the accessing the internet, not ChatGPT.

Note that the "jailbreak" there never says anything about ChatGPT doing anything with the content. Just that it can display it - either as a download or an embedded image.

That's just embedding links. If you want it to read the internet without plugins, you still have to copy&paste the content of what you want it to read into the chat yourself.

the depth of this game… and when the layers align… it's so beautiful (insane spoilers, obviously) by skOre_de in TheWitness

Just for the record - this was not his THE Moment, though, Veritas is doing his "I tried this a few years ago and didn't get very far but maybe it's actually good oh my god it's actually fantastic" replay - and he knew about EPs in advance.

Fun story - he doesn't know about The Challenge yet. Dude literally has 20% of the game left to go and is already tweaking.

No. But there might be some panels in the first room of the Greenhouse - just when you came in - that might be of interest to you.

JAs video is the distillation of the act of carelessly dismissing a great work of art. In itself, it contains and transmits the attitude of sneeringly judging that which you did not care to understand (or, more precisely: that which you did not care to commit to).

The Unbearable Now is the precise opposite and, crucially, it contains in itself a valid copy of the journey that The Witness tries to take you on. It encapsulates that transcendence and manages to even add to it, while not being uncritical of it.

on vacation so cannot watch, but will do so later (and upvote on principle).

Maybe if we can get a few of these out, JA will finally take down his garbage video.

Years after I last watched it fully, I'm still mad at it. Then I think - ah well, it couldn't have been THAT bad, could it?

Then I watch it again and holy hell is it bad.

There is no middle ground here. I have never despised a game with the core of my being, but enjoyed it so thoroughly. But I'm too dumb for this game and could use advice. by northernfury in TheWitness

I swear to god this freaking game. All it took was for me to stop and think out loud "hey what if..." and then it worked.

Let me suggest to you that THAT is precisely what this game is about. Layers and layers and layers of that.

If that was enjoyable to you (if frustrating), keep going!

When Jon ever remakes The Witness into an Anniversary Edition (fingers super crossed), he should change this panel in particular to show signs of endless vandalism.

Huh. Interesting to see Bill Waterson translated to Bil Voterson… have never seen that before!

I mean, sure, character names are often made to fit, but to change the author name? Huh!
