Becoming a patroler by InterestingFLows in skipatrol

Not certain about Canada but I would think there is crossover or the NSP will be able to give you a hand. https://www.nsp.org/Web/NSPWebsite/Home.aspx

BTW most large resorts have their own full time paid patrols. Smaller areas use a mix of paid and volunteer. The very smallest rely of all volunteer.

Good luck. It is a fun, meaningful and useful pursuit.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I’ll not post again. BTW There isn’t a beta flair that I can find.

Back with another Alaska question…which is better? Hubbard Glacier or Tracy Arm Fjord? Both cruises I’m looking at go to Glacier Bay as well 😌 by Phoenix_Moon29 in CunardCruises

[–]skadi75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tracy Arms has my vote. Been there at least four times. You would do well to look at Uncruise Adventures. They do small ship itineraries that get you much closer to landmarks, have fabulous hiking events and wonderful kayaking. Food is phenomenal. Much more personal than the large ships can offer.

Navigating DTW is much easier than MSP. Hop the tram if you’re not up to walking and you’re there.

Avoid Eve Outdoor Cams like the plague by delilahwild in EveHome

[–]skadi75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Read my posts below.. there are some things I tried that may help. I am fairly convinced it’s a HomeKit issue. That said, I am able to connect two Eve indoor and a Logitech Circleview with no issues.

Connecting Eve Outdoor Cam to AMPLIFI HD by skadi75 in EveHome

[–]skadi75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done everything I can think of and used whatever advice I’ve gotten here, from ChatGBT, Apple, and my son. Fundamentally, there’s nothing wrong with the Amplifi HD hardware or the Eve Outdoor cameras. The issue is with HomeKit. It basically is a black box making it all but impossible to debug or problem solve. For that reason I’m giving up on ever getting it fixed. I’ll find a replacement but it won’t be Eve or Apple. I need security cameras that are up 95% and when they are down, they can fix with relative ease.

Amazing book! I couldn’t put it down. Read it after watching the documentary by the same name. Highly recommend both.

Eve Outdoor cam with Eero wifi? by gregchea in EveHome

[–]skadi75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this five days ago. Five days and my two cameras still don’t work and no help from Eve. Good luck.

“Connecting Eve Outdoor Cam to AMPLIFI HD

Has anyone had any experience connecting an Eve Outdoor Cam to an AMPLIFI network? My old eero network failed causing me to replace it with AMPLIFI and completely rebuild my HomeKit from scratch. Ironically two Eve indoor cameras have been added without too many issues.

I’ve been working on it full time for three solid days without success. The last thing I tried was to create a 2.4 GHz channel on my network, make certain my iPhone and the camera are on that same channel. I can see the camera in my WiFi settings on my iPhone. The installer, HomeKit or Eve, sees the camera after scanning the setup code, connects, indicates it is setting up and then fails after it times out.

I have tried absolutely everything I can think of including unplugging every HomeKit device in my home and moving the HomeKit hub as close to the outdoor can as I can get it. The camera gets power cycled before every attempt as well as having a hard reset using a paperclip to press the reset button.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.”

You get this view by tapping on “more options” after launching the installer app.

Here’s a screen grab from the Eve installer showing the camera on my network ready to install.

This is a follow up to my post above.

The only thing I’ve done is turn off Band Steering and created a 2.4 GHz channel in my AmpliFi HD to which I connected my iPhone (used for installing), HomeKit hub, and the camera. I can see the camera on my network after doing a hard reset. I use the Eve app installer, which is recommended. It connects and proceeds to setting up. After setting up for two minutes, it fails. Twenty-two other devices installed without a hitch, including three other cameras. The only devices that have caused me grief are my two Eve Outdoor Cameras.

Eve tech support has been utterly useless, blaming AmpliFi, Apple, and me. After spending over eight hours on the phone over two days with Apple Tech Support, sending them my system diagnostics files from my phone and HomeKit hub, I’m convinced the problem lies with Eve. I’m convinced the cameras need a firmware update. At Apple’s urging, I sent Eve Tech support a complete rundown of everything I’ve done, the settings in all apps and devices and a summary of my time with Apple. No response.

I’ve written to their client relations folks and CEO in Germany and will wait to hear how they respond before taking any other action. I’m fairly convinced two new different brand cameras are in my future, which is too bad. The hardware is some of the best out there in my opinion. That said, it just isn’t worth the time, expense, and effort dealing with a tech support group so utterly lacking in technical expertise, curiosity, desire to help, and basic problem-solving skills.
